Shower question for my 2011 26BH

Okay, I have a question for those with similar trailers and those with other models as well. Since buying my 2011 Jay Flight Swift 26BH in the spring, I noticed that the walls of the shower are peeled away slightly - in other words the vinyl shower walls from the actual walls of the trailer. Is this something that happens or should I be getting it in for warantee work in the spring and have it fixed? I know it was noticed during the walkthrough but with the multitude of things I was trying to remember at the time I really didn't think to ask at the dealership if that was normal. I just want to see if any others out there have had the same thing happen in their units. My concern is that water gets in behind the walls when anyone takes a shower and that causes damage.

I think what you are seeing is probably normal - but if you can, post a pic. Mine sound similar to yours and it is basically the plastic panels that can flex with the trailer movement. There is a lip that goes up around the base of the tub that keeps water in. There have been similar posts and people wanted to caulk them, but that is not a good idea as it would actually trap water behind the wall if any got in there.

I had a 2005 Sprinter and it's shower walls were like the 2011 Eagle I have now, the walls aren't tight to the walls of the camper, they have a little flex. I have no fear of water getting into my shower walls.

Does your trailer have the plastic tub surround or just a bare wall in the shower?

Crabby...it has the tub surround with the "plastic" wall panels.

OK you should be good to go then. There is a lip on top of the tub under the surround that does not allow water to run behind there. They all have that gap which to the naked eye would appear to need caulking but it is not necessary. If your issue is something else, please post some pics so we can see what`s going on.

My 26BH is the same way. It feels like the panels are stuck on with double sided tape or something similar, because I can push the bottom edge of the panels against the walls and they stick in place momentarily.

I agree, it's not a problem. The gap allows moisture behind the panel to drain out, and allows the area to stay as dry as possible. Caulking would not be a good idea, IMHO.

That's exactly what I'm talking about Smoker...it's the top of the panels that concerns me and you nailed it when you mentioned the double sided tape or whatever it is that makes it stick momentarily and then it separates again.

From what you guys are describing apparently they have changed the way they mount the tub surround. In the pics of mine note that the surround is attached with round retainers and trim on the ends. It fits snug and looks tight. Notice the aforementioned gap at the bottom.
