Sink Repair

Any suggestions for repairing scratches to a sinks finish? My rig has the white fiberglass undermount sink. Several scratches are bothering my bride and she would like them repaired. Next RV will have stainless steel

If its like the one in my White Hawk, its more like a thick plastic. You can't repair these cheapo's with anything that won't make it look worse. Replace it with a stainless and get on down the road. The bride needs to understand that OEM things like sinks, faucets, etc are not of the quality you would put in your house. First thing we did was to replace the fucets in the kitchen and bathroom. This spring I replaced the kitchen sink that had shattered under travel with coffee maker and small cutting board stored for the trip.

My Bride definetly gets the quality issues... Hence the list of requirements she is building for our "Next" unit.

Unfortunately ours is not a plastic insert. It is Fiberglass and is actually molded as one unit with the counter top. So to replace it I would have to cut it out. Not an impossible project, but definetly not my first choice for solutions.

Try this, it's for the fake marble(plastic) countertops.

To remove minor scratches, sand in a circular motion, with light pressure, using a 3M gray finishing pad #7415. Apply light water as you sand. Wipe clean. If scratches are deeper and still visible, sand wet in a circular motion using 320-grit Wet and Dry sandpaper, followed by the gray pad.

To avoid more damage, place a plastic dishpan in the sink to protect it. Suggestion from SWMBO.

Thanks Grumpy. She used a magic eraser and that really helped the minor ones. There are one or two deeper ones... That may or may not be from me cleaning the grills for the Weber Q ... I think I will need to find a fill solution prior to sanding.
