Slide update
Just received three new motors from Jayco. These are Klauber Machine & Gear devices. They seem like a hefty, well-built product. Hopefully the rain stops and I can tackle this project tomorrow.
I checked my notes... 03/22/11 was my first e-mail concerning the living room slide being stuck. 03/31/11 was a shipping notice and it arrived by a Brown Truck today. No complaints from me...

I dont have slides, but post a pic if you can when you have it torn down. Would like to see what is involved in the motor swap.

Picture update: iPads are GREAT! But, I am not having much luck posting pictures from it. Plus, my wife tells me that the camera's disk had been "formatted" and wiped out my install pics. Not too worry though, I have two more motors to tackle today and can use my phone and snap some pics.
In the meantime, I have attached a hyperlink, in my signature, that will take you to our bloodspot. There DW has some assorted pictures, but, not the motors - YET!

I apologize if I missed it, but with your rig being a 2011, why are you replacing the motors? Shouldn't your dealer be doing this or another Jayco dealer if you are traveling?

@ Ed: it is a warranty issue; however, the slide is stuck open as it sits in my yard. The local dealer is not much help; I did not buy from them, so, they do not feel they should extend themselves for me. I have complained to Jayco about this dealer and Jayco is willing to pay another service center for the repairs, but, I need to close the thing up first. I'm sure if I fight for a service tech to make a house call, I would probably have to pay first and chase Jayco for reimbursement. Bottom line - I feel more comfortable doing this type of repair myself... rather than having a service guy respond; force the thing closed to get it back to the shop; and have it sit "forever and a day" for it to be fixed. Plus, I live in the country (yes, Rhode Island does have a "country") and it is a chore to manage my 1000' driveway.
If it was something more than just a simple swap of parts and a tight squeeze of a work
area, I would be doing battle with the dealer/repair people. Besides, I'm newly retired -I'm up for the challenge!
NOTE: Jayco has been great to deal with. I am 100% positive that if I was stuck in a CG, Jayco would have done everything and anything to correct this issue. For me, one battle at a time... And in closing, like someone else mentioned, I will now know my rig better than I did before

I'm the same way with repairs. if it's something I can do(most everything), I'd rather do it myself and know what quality of work I'm getting. It also gives me a chance to look around for anything that might be "improved" on. I own a marine service business and since most of the systems on RVs are the same and I'm pretty handy, this isn't rocket science to me.

Thanks for the reply. I knew there was a reason. At least I know Jayco will ship parts direct to us if needed. I didn't know what before.
Thanks and let us know how it goes.

Here is the original motor that failed:
Side by side comparison - left = OEM right = replacement

Hey Shinpond, is the new one made in USA? A little picture pointer- Try resizing your pics to 800x600 next time. It takes awhile to learn the many mysteries of pictures. I still have not figured it all out

Blame me on that one! We have been working to figure out posting from a mobile device. You think doing it from your computer can be difficult, try it from a handheld. Maybe one day someone will get off their duff and get a FAQ done...

@ Crab: it does appear to be made in the USA. However, I am basing this off of their website - the product itself did not have that fact listed. Plus, I'll work on resizing; especially since I have now figured out how to post pictures (thanks Terry and company) - they have created a monster!

Thanks for the pics. Guess I will have to crawl under mine when it quits raining and check for Chineese quality products.

Eagle 2010 321 RLTS slide problems
Hi, I own a 2010 Jayco Eagle 321 RLTS, purchased last fall and had it delivered. Sat in driveway all winter and when I went to run slides out this spring the one gear box piled up. RV dealer came and replaced with a different motor and gearbox, so far so good. But no mention of replacing other slide motor, I guess I will have to wait until it piles up. I owned a 2007 Jayco Eagle before this and the slide was a completely different system, never had any problems with it. Why they would change something that works is beyond me, maybe saving a few dollars.
Looks like Jayco owners are having lots of problems with these type of slides.
Jim

Hello Jim! Welcome to fourm! Sorry your having issues with your slide too, but it looks like Jayco is taking care of folks so far.
If you get a chance, come on over to the new member section and introduce yourself!
