SlingBox 500

My DW & I enjoy watching Fox News every evening and miss it when we are camping. We have an AT&T hotspot with 30GB's of data each month so I bought a Roku stick thinking it would give me real-time shows - wrong (but I do like the 1500 channels so we will keep it).

I just purchased a SlingBox 500 for real-time viewing and would like to hear from anyone who has it before I open the box.

I take it you don't have access to Time Warner Cable? TW has an app for the ROKU that gives you your entire line up of real-time viewing. So before you open that box check with your cable company and see if they have an app for the ROKU or your tablet.

I have a SlingBox that I have connected to our home cable box/DVR when we leave for the summer and head up to the Georgia mountains until October. I have had no issues with the SlingBox or local CG Wi-Fi and the HD picture. I should put in a disclaimer regarding local CG Wi-Fi as we use a Wi-Fi signal extender). It is great having all the local TV stations (hurricane updates since we live in FL), and the Ray's games along with DW's recorded favorite shows to watch anytime.

Dish also has a receiver that has a SlingBox built into their receiver, but I would have had to pay for 2 accounts, one at home and one for the TailGater on the TT (used when we are dry camping). We only turn on the tailgater for a few months each year.

Thanks, Don. That's good to know. I checked with Comcast about a Roku app and the rep said they only have apps for smart phones, tablets, etc - no Roku app.
