Snow on the rooftop! What do you do?

Do you do anything special before during and after a snow? Snowing in the Pacific Northwest!

I don't do a thing - if the roof will take my weight it will definitely take a snow load.

I generally put on warmer clothes. For the camper... nothing special.

Stay inside. I have the option of working from home when during inclement weather.

We don't worry much about the roof but the slide toppers need to be cleaned off.

I had one of these, but only used it if we were heading out and snow was on the roof. Other wise I just waited for it to melt as most do.

Crank the nose way up or way down to help the melt water run off.. otherwise do nothing.. You would probably hurt it more than help it.

If you're living in it, the snow will make for a good insulator to keep the heat in.

Go south!

All seriousness aside, a few inches of snow, especially wet snow, over a large area weighs one heck of a lot more than any one person. I've heard of mobile homes up in the Flagstaff, AZ area having their roofs cave in from as little as a foot of snow and they are usually stronger than the roofs of most RVs.

roof rake of which we already own one for the house.. Dealers here don't worry about it.. until it gets three foot deep.

We don't get wet snow till March and then its funny to see people on roofs madly shovelling and raking then..

Here in Alaska, we know a thing or two about snow and cold temperatures.
First let me apologize to all those who are currently in receipt of the recent "polar express" cold snap which traveled to your locale from up here. We had it a week and a half ago and forecasters said it would move south...

As for snow on the roof top of the RV. We don't do anything. I fire up the sled and go riding.

Thanks to this roof system, I don't worry about it.

Now if I had 4 feet of snow on my roof like some of my friends in Durango see from time to time, I'd brush it off.

I usually allow no more than a foot and then I sweep it off.. I am just on the north side of the border from Washington State and we are getting the snow too

We could get 2 feet of snow and not worry about the roof. Any Great Plains storm system that dumps that much snow around here will come with at least 30 mph winds and it will blow off as fast as it lands. We might end up with a big drift on the downwind side of the trailer, but that's about it. If we get a significant snow this year, I'll try and get a photo to post.
