We have 100# black lab. He rides in back seat of the truck. Has a crate in the trailer he stays in while in the CG. Labs like to be with their people.

My 60 lb wonder mutt rides in the back seat floorboard on his orthopedic bed. Right behind the navigator (DW) and right next to my son. It's actually something I'm concerned about for my next truck. Luckily my GMC has a great rear seat folding configuration, the Rams I'm looking at, not so much...

Still, I wouldn't want him riding in the trailer. He really likes being with his pack, and it's not at all inconvenient for him to ride in the cab. He would get lonely back there, and I don't want to risk injuring him; there's a lot of movement back there. We stop every 2 hrs as a matter of practice any way, and when we do, he gets a chance to sniff around and stretch his legs.

I would be interested if anyone powers their fiver or TT while under way, but only because it gets HOT here in TX, and it's nice to have the trailer all cooled down when you get somewhere instead of having to wait for it to cool down once you get all hooked up at the CG.

Our of curiosity, we placed a video camera in out TT and took her out for a spin. Wow! You would not believe the chaos that is going on in there when being towed. I am surprised that the cabinet doors are still intact. It would surely scare the heck out of most dogs and does not look comfy.

Just my two cents . . . do others actually do this?

We flip the seats in crew cab up and put beds down and they travel all over with us like that. 7 month old black lab ("Dog" Vader) 5 year old Border Collie/Scottish Terrier mix (Scrappy) our guard dog.

After the loss our Gatsby we did not get another dog. It has simplified our lives as far as RVing and I don't believe we will ever get another dog. We're able to get plenty love from others pets where ever were at.

Lots of good ideas here. As I have 2 teenage boys in the back of my crewcab adding 2 50 lb. huskies and a a ****zu on long trips would not be comfty for all. Hence this post to see what others do.
My original idea was to get a cap and crate them up securely. If it gets to hot outside I can always bring into truck for a while,

Our F150 has a huge back seat area when the seats are folded up, so that is our 80lb Golden Retriever's spot. There's room for him, his water dish and a plug in cooler back there. Golden's are people dogs and he would lose his mind if he wasn't right there with us! We can't even leave him outside the trailer at a campsite and go inside for 2 minutes without him whining with worry. Kind of like how he stands outside the bathroom door when in use at home! LOL. Strangely enough, he's perfectly fine home all day by himself while we are at work. But once we are around he follows us around like a puppy! (Pun intended!)

Like someone else said earlier, the newer trucks, including the ford's don't seem to have as much room in the back. I noticed they all seem to have some kind of storage box under the seat that would be in the spot for our dog. Going to be interesting when it comes time to buy a new truck!

Triple tow...and yes it's legal to put pets in trailers.

If the back seat is free, then in the back seat.
Now that I have a son, both dogs will more often be in the TH.
Tie down their crates in the garage area. If it's warm out, open the windows while traveling. Stays pretty nice in there.
