Speaking of pets...

Anyone here travel with their pets in the TT?
If you do how do you keep them cool in warm weather?

Any other suggestions?

Many campgrounds will not allow you to leave an unattended animal all day, even inside your unit. It's not fair to those around your unit, or to the animal. If your planning on taking a day trip, and can't bring the animal along, you may want to check into accommodations for the animals at shelter or pet resort. Best to be prepared beforehand.

I have not, but am thinking about it. I think for short trips it will be fine, 1-2 hrs, depending on temp. For longer trips would not be ok, if it's hot.

I am interested in thoughts as well. I know our dog would be much more comfortable in the TT than the truck.

I have put him in the bed when I had a cap, used a 12v fan running on him with windows open. He always did very well that way.

Yeah, I had side widows with screens I could open and a 3 plug 12v outlet in the bed. Bought a 12v fan. Used that and would check periodically. Never panting. He is a 75 lb chocolate lab.

When we go wife takes our Suzuki and I have Excursion and trailer. Dog is in back seat of wifes car with the air on and we don't have any problems. We stop every 1 1/2 hours or maybe a little longer for potty breaks [dog and us]

I would NEVER put my dog in the RV while travelling down the road. I have seen what has happened sometimes to simple things, such as a pot or something that is not tied down. Too dangerous, far, far too dangerous for anyone or anything in there. Backseat of the truck with a harness is the safest spot for any dog.

Got two Russian terriers - 120lb each, replaced a regular fan with a Maxxfan, it turns on and off by itself based on the inside temperature, it regulates speed automatically , main thing is that it can stay opened while raining outside, extremely powerful, works great, it moves 900 cubic feet of air in a minute , also, when winter camping, left on on minimum , almost no condensation inside the coach

This is one of those passionate topics, like generator and TV preferences.

When we migrated our primary tow vehicle from a SUV to a Pick-up I spent a lot of time researching were our dogs should ride. For us, we ultimately decided that in a crate riding in the truck bed was the best and safest option for us.

Up to 89 degrees, in the rv with window and ceiling vent open (plenty of water)...90 degrees or above, in the truck. One other note: I rarely drive more than two hours at a stretch and rarely more than four hours in a day.

I'm not aware of it being illegal. As for people, in some states it is in fact legal to have people in a trailer being towed provided they have two way communication with the driver and some places require seat belts in the trailer.

If you go to a dog show you will see dozens of folks who regularly travel with crated pets in the back of towable RV. Not that it makes it legal, although I would think if it wasn't that would be a place an LEO could make a quick and meaningful impact.

In the truck. Front seat. My lovely bride in the back seat (her choice). He's a great copilot and he rarely gives me crap for my driving habits. He also doesn't ask to stop at every antique shop or restroom......

My 50 lb. mutt rides with me in my truck. He has been all over the country. Sometimes I drive about 800 miles before I let him out to pee and he never complains lol. He likes riding in the laundry basket in the back seat. I wouldn't put him in my travel trailer,I would be afraid he would bounce around too much.

X2! My dog rides on the back seat of my P.U. I have a dog hammock the keeps him from sliding onto the floor if I have to stop in a hurry. In fact, he likes the truck so much that he insists on going into the truck every morning - right after going to the bathroom, eating, and having a couple rawhide chews. He'll stay in there for 2-3 hours, if I let him. He loves going everywhere with me, and I guess he figures he won't get left in the trailer if he's already in the truck!
