Thumbs down Still Dealing With Fleas! GROSS!

After 4 months and many bombs later, we are still dealing with fleas! The dealership is a real piece of crap, we called them the first month, and they said too bad, we had no way of knowing! Thats the owner at Tacoma RV for you! Weve taken the to the BBB, nothing. They did say they would pay to have our carpets cleaned a second time, so I stand corrected that is something!

I'm at a loss and its driving me nuts! I'm about to just rip out the carpet and paint the sub-flooring until we can get new flooring, this is gross. Tonight the teeniest tiniest of fleas jumped right up on my hand while I was eating dinner. No we dont have animals. I personally believe all RVs should be following a pest guideline as part of their resale certs.

Rip out the carpet and put Laminate flooring in. Then fog the whole thing for a day or two with everything shut tight. That's gross.

Thank you both! I may rip it out while my husbands at work! 👍 I'm saving receipts, more than likely I will take the dealership to small claims court, it's the best way to rectify these situations with businesses and actually win. This is depressing and itchy!

I do like carpet in campers!

In reality, I would call a pest control company and have them come out and use there industrial strength products that you and I cannot buy.

Good luck, wonder where the fleas would have come from?

I second this opinion

Yeah - this has to be a cheaper first step than ripping stuff out. We do have a dog and - thankfully - fleas are rare in Colorado.

But he brought them home once from a trip. We bathed him with the special soap and then treated the carpeted areas and vacuumed.

We eradicated them.

Seems like getting them out of a trailer should be easier (and cheaper) especially if they've lost their food source.

I can absolutely understand the disgust, but I'd probably take some measured steps first.

I too think this can be dealt with without dramatic costly measures.

Agree you have to keep after them. Glue traps around a nightlight works well for fleas and other things.

I had this problem in a house and here is why you may not be getting rid of them. Bombs really won't work. You'll need to purchase from a local pest control, a commercial spray on product. It is very important to make two applications the first kills the existing fleas but will not kill the unhatched eggs. One week later (or as advised by the vendor) you must spray again to kill the fleas that have hatched and before they can lay eggs. With out this two step process you will be in a continuous circle, trust me I know.

Have you tried vacuuming?

After bombs, poisons, etc you need to vacuum up the dead and dying fleas plus any eggs you can get up and out. That would cut down on the number of hatching eggs. And you need to do it after you remove carpets.

Remember to clean your bedding and it would be a good idea to get one of those bags for your mattress. While you're at it, vacuum out the cupboards, cabinets, closets....every nook and cranny. You need to get every single flea and egg.

Good hunting.

Need to sprinkle some Borax powder everywhere in the TT for a day or two, then vacuum it up, and repeat several times. Just google Borax and fleas. It takes some time and effort, but works.
