Stop Pots & Pans Sliding Off Stove

I am not happy RV stoves. The front of my stove on the 2015 Jayco 23RB doesn't even have a bar on the grate that covers the entire pot or pan. The grate is also slippery. I knew this would be an accident waiting to happen.

This morning a frying pan with hot oil and eggs slid off the stove. Luckily it missed me and landed on the floor, but it does highlight something I consider to be quite dangerous.

Is there anyone out there that has figured out a way that prevents pots and pans from being so easy to slide off the stove top? Like a guard rail or bumpers perhaps? Anything? Please help.

Can't believe Camco hasn't sold something to fill this need yet.

Is your trailer level? I can't picture a pot or pan sliding off a level surface unless you knock it off.

I've been using a stove in RVs for 10 years and never had a problem like this. Is the grate over your burners not seated all the way down on each corner?

This is something I've never seen discussed on any RV forum.

I agree!

Now, if it is really off level, this may happen:

I no longer have a stove but when I did we never had a pan slide or move on the burner. I wonder what your doing wrong or what the problem is.

I have had the same issue. I have not lost any food or pan yet. I clean the grate and stove every time I use it. The TT is level. It is only with the front burner. I am going to try a heavier pan the next time we go to see if that makes a difference.

A marine "pot holder" like these could work for you.

This problem mostly affects the front burner. That area of the RV is a bit of pinch point and it would be very easy to knock a pan off there. There is not nearly as much friction holding a pot or pan onto the stove as conventional home stoves. A good 1/5 of a large pot or pan hangs over the edge and the surface of the grates is slippery.

Sea pot holders seems like a logical option, I just don't see any that will fit the grate that comes with the RV. Not yet at least. My search continues.

I'm wondering if the trailer is level is the stove? Something is off. If you can't find a bracket system you can always make one with some aluminum flat bar and strategic cuts like this. I built This in about a day using a plasma cutter. But it can be done with a sawzall or hasksaw.

I've been on the hunt for a frame / fence / guard for the stove too. I've seen a more traditional 3 burner top but we have the "useless" do a change out is even more work

I'm going to look at a hardware store for some clamps and screw them on one of the horizontal members after painting them with high temperature black paint. I'm sure I can come up with a simple solution. I just don't know why someone hasn't come up with something first.

I found an inexpensive solution to my problem...not the $100+ solution used by mariners. I went to the hardware store and bought a 6-pack of Pony 1-inch c-clamps (#1410) and then screwed two of them on the front, with the top levers/bars pointed out at a 45 degree angle to be perfectly lined with the pan and then did the same with two more on the left and right of the stop top grill. $15.95 and my problem was solved.

Here are some photos. Tonight I thought about it and instead of two small metal C-clamps on the left and right side, a larger one tilted up at a 45 degree angle would work better. The smaller 1" C-clamps still are the best option for the front.

I have the same problem with pans seemingly ready to slide off the stove at the slightest push, TT is level. I have been looking for some kind or rail across the front or side. Are the little clamps heat proof?

It's the pot. Your pots look too smooth, possibly enameled? Get a stainless clad pot, one that has a brushed flat bottom. That will increase friction.

I love this set:

You know this is a new one on us. We have never had a problem with pans on our stove. I guess anything is possible. Hope that you come up with a answer. Good luck.

Unless I was way off on leveling I've never had a problem with sliding pans either.

Now, if I had kids running around I might be more sensitive to this kind of thing.
