Stovetop cover

Aou last RV had a cover over the range top that folded up and down. It was very nice to use as extra countertop space when not using the range and as a backsplash when the range was in use.

Our new Jayco 26RLS does not have this.

Is there something in the aftermarket that can be used as a cover?

Your model appears to have a standard 3 burner Atwood cooktop. Have you checked with your RV dealer? As far as aftermarket, I don't know. I bet one manufactured by Atwood may be the only way you can go.

Camping World has one, and "it ain't cheap"! I think it's around $45 or so. We got one and it does the job but I wish the gauge of steel was a bit more stout. It seems a bit flimsy but it does the job.

I bought this, http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...er-black/16056 I use 1 side for cutting and 1 side as the good side. Until a friend took something out of the oven and put it on it. Now both sides are crappy.

I have one of those. Mine is tan color and it is old. I guess age has caused it to slightly curl but it still works well. You can only use one side of mine since the other has the non-skid material glued to it. Mine has cut marks on it and my wife at the time yelled at me for using it as a cutting board. Now the wife is an ex and I still have the cutting board...:-))

We have one of these wooden stove top cutting boards. Works well to create added countertop space when not using the stove.

The 3 burner Atwood is pretty standard across Jayco lines. Ours didn't come with a cover so I ordered one from our local dealer and installed it myself. Came with instructions and was an easy 10 minute job.

I was thinking of making one out of a piece of countertop.
I thought about cutting a couple notches on the bottom to keep it from sliding?

What the PO had left us in our TT. Works great and cheap to make. I may eventually re-make it due to the years of use and starting to sag a little.

I bought a wooden cutting board cheap someplace that looks about the same size as this one. I used the router to cut slots in the backside of the board that set over the bars in of the range top so it doesn't slide around.

I made one with some old left over Pergo flooring, glued to 1/4 inch lattice strips around the edge and a piece of corner molding on top edges. It matched the woodwork perfectly and I kept it when the old rig sold. Still unused in my garage.

My camper came with the Atwood folding cover that matched the stove. I found it to be not particularly useful and gave it away. When cooking I was generally using the stove. Horizontal surfaces tend to accumulate temporary clutter which then have to be dealt with before cooking.

Most rv's are not known for their abundance of counter top space. Every bit helps according to the Boss!

On our new rig, Atwood has made improvements in the design of the folding metal top. We use it now and it folds out of the way for cooking and does not flop or bend as the old design did.
