Suggestions on an TT upgrade?

I currently have a 2007 23b hybrid travel trailer. I like it but I'm getting tired of 2 main things... 1) setting up the beds upon arrival and 2) cold beds in the fall because it's the pop-out tent beds.

I do like the added living space though ... but I'm entertaining the thought of switching to a fully contained travel trailer. We have an SUV (2008 Range Rover) with a towing capacity of 7700lbs. Our current TT has a gross weight of just shy of 5000lbs.

I only have a few "must haves"
- 5000lbs or less
- Sleeps 2 adults and 2 kids (kids could share a full or maybe 2 twin bunks)
- Separate freezer... not the one that has the one door and then the little freezer compartment... I prefer having a completely separate door for a legit freezer.
- Not a hybrid... I'm tired of the canvas walls

I know the freezer thing is a weird "must have" but we use it so often that it's a convenience I don't want to give up.

Other things like slide outs, shower size, TT length, etc.... that's negotiable.

Any suggestions (new or used) for TT that have those 4 features?

Well, if I were you I would look at the Jay Flight line-up. The hardest thing may be the weight limitation, not sure about that. Prior to my FW I had a Whitehawk, which was a pretty good trailer except for some of the light trailer construction, specifically the floor, but I guess they have even changed that now. Good luck in your hunt....make it fun!

I bought a Jay Feather last Spring because weight was a factor. I have the 26' which was discontinued for 2017. Nearly every Feather is under 5k lbs with a 6' fridge/freezer.

My 2015 Jayflight (as built + Propane) is 4,300lbs with the separate fridge/freezer doors. 4 Solid walls. We bought the RD (rear dining- just us empty nesters), but there is a BH (bunk house) version for growing families.

Plenty of possibilities!

I hear you on #2, it's one of the few things I don't like about a hybrid. Not enough to make me go to full walled though.

But I'm curious about your issue with setting up the beds? It's less than a 5 minute process to drop both beds. What is it that you have trouble with?

I would look hard at the Jay Flight 26BH. We had a 2012 and I personally loved it. It was a little tight but we used it with our son (teenager) and a black lab who slept on the floor and found it was perfect. My wife only upgraded to get a slide out and it has been awesome as we now haul around grand-baby stuff and have room to set up the pack 'n play when she sleeps with us!

X2 on what robo posted. We just purchased a 2017 jay feather 25bh and just got back from our first trip on Tuesday. It was great as it rained for 2 1/2 days of our 4 day trip. Everyone had room and best of all, the kids didnt fight with each other because they were not on top of each other. We upgraded from a 2007 jay flight 20bh and we had a rainy trip with that tt once and it was tight. The 20bh is the same floorplan as the 26bh but without the queen bedroom upfront. That was a great tt and I miss how easy it was to tow but the room in the 25bh and the outside kitchen are amazing not to mention a private bedroom for my dw and I. Good luck and let us know. PS we like the separate freezer too.

I have a Jayco X213, it's 21' with a rear hard wall slide out king bed which extends it out to 27' It has a fridge with a separate freezer compartment. Bunk beds up front for 2. It is rated 5500 lb gross weight and the lower bunk folds up to carry a couple of bikes. We have had ours for 4.5 years now with no issues and we love it.

I was going to suggest the X213 as well. It is a little above your weight limit but you could stay around 5000lbs with some light packing.

Also the newer hybrids may have more insulated beds and cable supports rather than having to setup poles to support the bed ends so you might want to consider them still.
