I don't use one. I spend most of my time in the boonies using my generator for power, so I don't think there'd be an issue. Could be wrong, though.

I rarely visit campgrounds with electric hookups, though I did spend 18 months at an RV park. When the thunderstorms rolled in, I unhooked the power cord from the pedestal and ran off battery power.

Yes, used a portable one for many years. With the new Eagle, I had a permanent one hard wired in. Saved our bacon this past trip at R. Shaefer Heard Campground. Took a hit into the ground about 50 yds away when lightning nailed a tree! Park lost power three times during this trip. Would not leave home without it. Only takes once to more than pay for the purchase.
