Switching Inverters

I currently own a Honda EU3000 inverter and am happy with the power it has to run everything in our trailer. It is just heavy and difficult to pack around. Thinking of switching to a Yamaha EF 2400. Will I regret doing this and wish I kept the Honda or not. I have tossed around the idea of doing 2 2000 in parallel for times I might need it. I think the 2400 will be lots as it is primarily used to make coffee. We may use it to power e AC to cool off the trailer but very rarely. The main reason for the change is just the weight of the Honda. I bought it used for a super good price so I won't loose money on it.

I have a Smarter Tools 2000iQ and got it with the knowledge I would have to get a second one to run my AC until I saw this:

I've read several folks who've installed them and can run the AC with a 2000w. Much cheaper and less hassle than a 2nd generator.

It may start and run it but can also damage your unit in the long run by not supplying enough watts to efficiently run.

I've used a 2400 for several years. I chose it for the reasons you mention. In my old fifth (non Jayco), it ran the 13.5k AC no problem. In my new Jayco with the 15k air conditioner, it wouldn't start it until I added a Supco capacitor. Now it starts and runs fine after I let the generator run for a few minutes.

I consider at times getting a 2000 one just for the easier portability, but the 2400 is awfully nice to have to run the AC that one or two times during our summer trip. It seems like there is always 1 or 2 instances where running the AC prevents a midday family meltdown.

Thanks we wouldn't often run AC off it but there are times where you just may need to be in the trailer for a period of time when it is hot out and we would want to run the AC. If 2400 will do it then we may go that way. We looked at Some today and like the 2 2000 watt idea but it will cost a chunk of cash if we buy new to do it. I am in Canada so we get to pay more for stuff than in the States. We could get. 2400 watt for about $1900 with taxes and 2-2000 watt would set me back $3500.

The 2400 is heavier and larger, but it is easier to have a single generator as opposed to 2 of them. It is manageable weight wise though.

Good luck with your decision and purchase!
