Question Tempur-Pedic mattress topper Q

I'm thinking about getting one and wonder what you good folks use to trim it to size. I'm thinking about the electric carving knife. Whad'ya think?

Kelly's & Texas,
Thanks! The topper I'm considering is 3" and I'm afraid the box cutter may leave a "hacked" edge behind. I've seen videos of auto upholstery foam being shaped with the turkey knife so I'm leaning that way.

Metal straight edge, push down where you want to cut, use box cutter.

My wife bought our mattress topper on sale from Shopko for $79 about a month ago. No trimming was needed but we do have a regular queen size mattress too.

I trimmed my memory foam mattress topper with an electric carving knife. It did a great job in no time at all, with very little effort. Also, I followed the advise of a couple of other folks, here, and put the 3" mattress topper under the mattress. I then put a 1" corrugated foam rubber mattress topper on top of the mattress - like a pillow top mattress - and then the standard mattress protector. I want to tell you, this combination has turned out to be the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on! I'd recommend it to anyone!

I used a sharp bread knife. Worked almost too well and no mess.

Anybody use a topper in a hybrid? And if so, where do you store it when folded up? I'm not too happy with the stock mattress in my X23b.

Bought a 14 inch NovaForm mattress for the trailer and cut it down with an electric carving knife. Gave it a perfectly straight edge. Can also use it to slice steak at the campsite!

Actually bought a 2" gel mattress topper from WalMart for my TT today, didn't have to cut it...what a huge difference in comfort!

Our topper came sewn into a piece of fabric like a standard mattress pad, so we didn't cut it. Upside (other than the significant increase in comfort) is that my feet don't hang off the end quite as bad because the topper effectively makes the mattress just a little bit longer. Downside is that it's harder for me to squeeze by the end of the bed to get out of the bedroom! Totally worth it!

We have 4" memory foam toppers for our bed and sleeper love seat. Used a straight edge to mark with a sharpie and easily cut both with really sharp scissors. DW put each inside a duvet, and made a world of difference in comfort.
