Thumbs up "The Next Exit" book

One of our favorite travel companions is a book entitled THE NEXT EXIT. It lists every exit along interstate highways and includes a listing of what is located at each of those exits and on what side of the interstate they are located. It lists by brand all gas stations, fast food and restaurants, lodging and "other" which includes hospitals, Wal-Marts, RV parks, etc. It also lists all rest areas and the facilities at each of them, i.e., rest rooms, handicapped facilities, phones, vending machines, picnic tables, litter barrels, pet walks, RV dump stations, security cameras, etc. We find it invaluable when we are pulling our travel trailer and just plain helpful when we are traveling without the trailer. The cost is $14.95 for the 2010 edition and is available the Amazon.com as well as many RV dealerships. Amazon.com has the 2009 edition for $10.76 and ships it for free.

Texas Sam,
I just got Big Rigs Best Bets, Corps Camping, National Parks Service Camping Guide & a DVD on Alaska ( I promised Marti we could start planning maybe next summer )
I haven't opened any yet as my plan is wait till we get South to Texas. I'm thinking the books will be a good planning guide for the ride home, in three months. We have never been out that long I figure Marti will be ready to kill me after being cooped up that long (just kidding) We plan to get out of the Cold and Snow a week from today I Hope !!!!

That is a more interesting book to read while traveling than the one I just bought - Trailer Life's RV Repair & Maintenance Manual.

We keep a copy in the tv and update it every couple of years. It is a good tool to have when traveling in interstates.
