Thermostat Mod Problems

I know it may sound silly with winter here but this has been bugging me for a few days. Last fall I changed out my Coleman thermostat for a Hunter 42123-42124 programmable thermostat. A/C works fine in the cooling mode during the initial cool down, then when I turn the thermostat to off then turn the unit back on the next day for cooling I get nothing but fan. It makes the click to signal for the A/C to cycle but no cooling. It was wired to the spec mods for a Coleman A/C unit that I have seen here and other web sites. I re-install the original Coleman stat and it will work fine. Can someone give me an idea as to why this may be happening?

No, brand new batteries were installed two times, as I stated the AC would run on the initial start up then when the unit was turned off for a day it wouldn't restart except after changing back to the original thermostat. I am puzzled

The thermostat might need a sub base, check with the manufacture.

Not sure if this helps but here is a good write up on a Hunter install.

I tried the Hunter digital mod when we had our 2011 365BHS and never could get it to work quite like it was suppose to. Ended up biting the bullet and just buying 2 of the Coleman Digital thermostats. They were quite a bit more expensive, but hooked right up and worked like a charm.

After thinking about it yesterday I went ahead and ordered the Coleman

Quick Step,

The conversion will be a piece of cake for you as the new one matches wire for wire to the old one.

Home thermostats are designed to work on 24v not 12v. I called Coleman and doing using a home thermostat will damage the AC unit.
