Tire Rim Combo

I'm shopping for new tires for my PUP.

I've got a place that quoted me a Load D tire, and for 20 dollars more, they sell it as tire / rim combo.

Is it worth $60 bucks (2 plus spare) to replace the rims on a PUP? (It's a 1995 1207)

What would you do? Adding it up, I'm at around $700 to make the unit safe to tow, and functional (Tires / repairs / brake work, etc). So saving $60 here or there, where it's not needed, is very worthwhile.

Any rust or damage on the rims? Has the spare ever been used? you can save 20 by keeping the spare rim.. but unless you see damage on the rims I would not bother with replacing them..

One of the rims has rust, but not a lot. The other two have none. No damage that I can see. Based on the rim color (which may not be a great indicator) the spare is already on the camper. (One grey, two white rims) the third have all been replaced at one time or another, since each tire is a different brand.

What will it cost you to have the old tires dismounted and the new ones mounted? If you pay a shop, it may be close to the $20 a piece. If you want to save money, do all the repairs you can yourself.

Replace any rims that you don't feel comfortable with and put two of the same tires on the ground. Keep the best old tire and rim for a spare.
