Toilet paper test
I seen this at an RV show awhile ago and thought I would post it up here. Always lots of talk about RV toilet paper or regular TP. Here is how you test different brands to see which will work in the RV.

Thanks.... "interesting article".
But since they have done a lot of tests, why don't they list some of the brands that are RV friendly??

I wondered that myself even at the show they never named a brand that worked. I haven't tried doing this yet but we found Purex seemed to not clog the tank

We use regular paper and have never had a problem as long as you can use lots of water. Dry camping is a different story I guess.

We use Angel Soft. Have never had a problem. As mentioned before, lots of water, small amounts of paper when possible.

I have been using regular Scott's since day one and the only time I see paper flowing out is usually left over from the go before we leave use. It is never seen during emptying in any mass quantities and my kids are using it like it's home I am sure.
Have not looked at the video yet, but I was told that a mason jar with some water and the TP, shake to confirm it's breakdown. Scott's breaks down pretty quick.

I have been using Costco's Kirkland brand.. it is labeled septic safe.. and it breaks down in a hurry.

The shake test, water in a jar works for me. Angel Soft is all we use. (not to delicate and not to rough)

Have been using Northern Ultra-soft for years. Tried "the test" on it yesterday, and after 6 hrs., it was still in tact. Guess I won't be using it in the new TT. Picked up some Charmin Ultra-soft, and tried "the test" this morning. After 4 hours, it appeared to be dissolving. Dumped it in the toilet and it completely fell apart - (the t.p., that is). Think I'll make the switch to Charmin.

I use Northern and have had zero problems. I full time and not one issue in almost 4 years. I do use a lot of water however. When boondocking paper doesn't go in the black tank, it goes into a trash can with a liner that is thrown out frequently.

I tried the test on the Charmin Ultra Soft we use at home, and it did not dissolve at all even after 48hrs immersion. I will try some Scotts in the test (I would use Kirkland, but we are a long way from the nearest Costco when we are in FL).

We buy the rv tp if theysold by the case we would go that route! My wally world is 1.99 a pack which is cheaperthan the good stuff!

Scotts "septic tank safe" breaks down real fast. We have a septic tank at home so can`t use just anything here either.

We have been using Costco Kirkland signature in our old JayFlight 29BHS and in our new Greyhawk. I carefully clean the black tank after every use. Never had a problem with TP clogs.

Hmmm, guess I'll do some testing this week. We use Charmin at home, so it would be great if it worked in the rv. May have to price the Seventh Generation they mentioned in the article as well. Thanks for sharing the info.

I tested Kirkland TP against RV TP in the mason jar shake test. The kirkland broke down faster than the RV TP! Niether broke down without shaking the jar a little, but the Kirkland showed signs of breaking down (more little floaties) almost immediately. I would assume the enzymes we add would help the breakdown faster as well no matter what brand is in use.
