Trailer Hitch

Just as an FYI to all those who like me doesn't check things as often as they should. Yesterday I happened to take a peek at the hitch on my truck & I saw 2 gapping holes rusted thru the left side plate. We live in NH and the truck, 16 yrs old, plows snow so it is out in the winter rust rust rust. After installing the new hitch I stood the old one up on the right side plate and it just bent over,looks like about one half of the thickness of steel was gone. Moral of the story is If you live in a STATE THAT USES SALT ON ITS ROADS IN THE WINTER, CRAWL UNDER YOUR TRUCK WITH A HAMMER AND POUND ON YOUR TRAILER HITCH SIDE PLATES.

Agree and it doesn't help that the paint job on these things are pityfull. I've had many hitch's over the years and i've found rust after every winter. Wire brush and respray every year.
