TT Storage

Got a few newbie questions...

Does anyone have any problems with bugs/insects entering the rv when storing between trips? Just wondering if periodic spaying for insects (similar to what we do with the brick/frame home) is needed.

How about storage tanks- how much liquid do you leave (if any) in fresh/grey/black tanks when rv is not in use (during summer season).

Do y'all leave the battery connected during storage. I've heard some remove fuses (smoke/carbon detectors) during storage to avoid the battery drain. How do y'all maintain the battery when rv not in use? How often are you needing to replace the battery? Probably depends on use, but interested in your experiences.

Thanks for any who share :-)

We have never had insect problems with our trailer. The black and grey tanks are dumped regularly and rarely sit with anything in them. The fresh water tank I don't worry much about but we do drain and flush it with a small amount of bleach or vinegar once a year.
If our trailer is not plugged in the batteries are disconnected . I check the water in the batteries twice a year.

Perhaps a wives tale, but I think the Dryer sheets tucked into spaces, under cushions, behind screen door, in roof vent, works to prevents bugs.

I drain everything, including Hot water tanks between trips, except I leave a few gallon along with chemicals in the black tank, and water in the bowl

Disconnect batteries. Things like gas and CO detectors will run and drain. No need to leave DC power connected for anything

Bring battery home. Buy basic battery charger at autozone, or like I do, add a small solar panel to the roof of the RV and let nature keep it charged

I use dryer sheets in the unseen areas. I've also heard bay leaves help with ants as well. But I luckily don't have that problem as of yet.

For the small amount of time I have had mine, I keep my fresh water tank empty (even on the road) I have jugs of water that I use when I'm not hooked up to potable water. (I think it helps with water conservation) I always have fluid in my bowl. Antifreeze when winterized and water in the summer. I leave just about a gallon in my black tank (10gal tank total) and have deotorizor in it if I think it is necessary. And my grey tank bone dry as often as possible.

I installed a battery disconnect switch so the internal loads don't drain the battery, but for long term storage (anything over a month or two I will pull it and put it on my maintainer.

2-3 gallons of water in each holding tank so the "leftovers" do not harden. Freshwater drain it completely. Take one lead off the battery to prevent parasitic loss.

I keep the hot very clean, and we do not have any bug issues

When you first set up on your next camping trip fire up the water heater on gas to burn the spiders out of the gas burners they like the smell of gas. then flip it to electric.
