TV shelf above fridge question

Hello,

This week we are picking up our new X20E. The TV shelf is on top of the fridge. The back wall has no support behind it for a TV wall bracket, I checked. The arm we have now has a removable clamp on it which we used with the folding TV shelf in our current HTT. The arm has an option to remove the clamp and screw the bottom into something. The arm itself is a Monoprice arm that's pretty heavy duty but we only use it for a Visio 16" TV. I just don't want to put screws in the shelf if its not going to hold it. I would prefer not to buy a new monitor mount/arm.

So what I'm looking for is information on how much clearance there between the shelf and the top of the fridge, or how others are mounting their TV/monitor arms in Jayco trailers with the TV shelf above the fridge. Here's what it looks like, maybe that will help.

I am very familiar with several pivot-arm desktop monitor mounts. We use them frequently w/ up to 19" monitors. Not being familiar with your particular pivot arm brand (or the weight of your proposed television), I can only assume that it too, will pivot the TV up to 90 degrees (which cantilevers the weight ) . That said, (IMHO) that looks like a pretty thin countertop to rely on screws only...I'd be inclined to bolt-through and put a plate on the bottom - but now you are talking about yanking the fridge.

Thanks. Its a 16" Visio. And that's what I was thinking about with the fridge, provided there is enough clearance and it looks like there is.

We used a 22" Dynex TV/DVD combo when we had our hybrid with a similar TV spot. We just took the TV down when traveling.

I should add that the mount has a thumb screw for quickly mounting and removing the TV itself. I do this now because we have to remove the entire arm before traveling.

Hi all,

Thought I'd put this update out there so others can refer to it in the future. We tried the removable clamp arm on the shelf extension and it worked great. No need to drill holes or reinvent the wheel. And we have some available shelf space for a role of paper towel or other items! Here's a couple of pictures.
