Unplanned Camping trip last weekend

We took our 17Z on an unplanned camping trip last Thursday through Sunday. We live just north of Huntsville Al. We were without power from Wednesday night until Sunday afternoon because of the tornadoes that came through our area. We had a large pecan tree that blew over at our house and landed on my kids trampoline. We were glad it fell that way and not on our house. The F5 tornado was still on the ground about 5 miles from our house. My neighbor said he saw it and it was not on the ground when it went over.
We took the camper to Tennessee and had a good weekend under the circumstances. I felt bad that we had a nice camper to take to a camp ground and so many of our friends had to rough it. My brother is still without power, the utility guys told him a transformer was blown out on his street. Please remember the affected families in your thoughts and prayers.

Glad to hear your safe and those in your region are definitely in our thoughts and prayers. We keep the fresh water tank in the tt full and cans of food in the cupboard in case of emergency. Nice that you had the tt to use

This has been a terrible Spring for tornadoes. It is fortunate you had the camper to fall back on and your family is safe.

Eric, there is nothing like having a camper when there are power outages. We had to use ours several years back when power in our town was out for 3 days because of flooding. Luckily I had a couple of 5 gal cans full of gas for the generator and the propane is always full so we sat in the trailer with heat (Jan) and watched videos and read books.

A lot of people moved in with neighbors and relatives with wood heat so they could stay warm.

You planned ahead. No reason to feel bad about it. My Eagle fiver has full propane, full water, full generator tank, and two weeks of food in stock which we rotate out, all for hurricane season which starts in three weeks.

I have family in the tornado affected areas, thankfully they are unscathed and have power. But they too have emergency plans, with my sister an RN, my niece an EMT, and my niece's husband a LEO.
