Upgrading??
Is anyone crazy as I am? I bought a 23FB Jayco Flight G2 last June. It is wonderful!!! But now I have that "I want one bigger" itch.
Is it possible to upgrade to a larger one and trade the one I have now?

Anything is possible. It might help to search around and see what the resale value is for your present 23FB before you start talking to dealers though. Also keep in mind what a new one should cost. Good luck!

Just like buying a car. Your going to eat the deprecation. Probably a couple thousand loss. Better off trying to sell outright or keep a year or two.

As soon as the trailer was titled it became used, and depreciated in value. The dealer will want to make a profit on the new one he is selling you as well as yours when he goes to sell it. After all he`s in business to make money just like everybody else. So as suggested selling it outright could help some, but either way you will take a financial hit. But folks do this quite often after they realize their first choice was not the right one. The first one we bought we only kept 10 months after realizing it just was not a good fit for our needs. But it was a used one and I sold it in one day on Craigslist to a local couple for exactly what I paid for it.

We did the 2 year turnaround on our first TT. Trade in price will be a shock to you for sure. We had a dealer offer us full blown retail new for the unit on trade and MSRP for the new replacement. The reason for that was the tax savings and what you may owe. If you owe more than it's worth you are going to need to settle that debt. Whether it's coming out of your pocket direct or added to the cost of the new trailer if you trade in.
We found our unit, shopped the best price and made a deal with concessions. Take the trade if I can't sell it while the unit is being built and if I do take it out of the deal. I sold it outright locally for 3K more than trade in value within 2 weeks of posting it. I was lucky.
Most dealers would rather sell the new unit outright without the risk of a trade in. They will protect their risk by offering you a lower than retail price but you need to weigh the outright sale vs taking the trade and sales tax savings, if applicable.
Here in NY you pay the sales tax upon registration regardless of state purchased. If it's within a $1000.00 or so take the trade. Less stress and paperwork on your end.
Make sure if you scratch that itch, scratch it good and do take your time in doing research. We took about 6 months in the change research but the itch was there for well over a year for me. The itch is gone for me, for now...
Also make sure you stay within your TV ratings and if you need to upgrade do that one first.

My last one I had for one season. Wasn't the right fit. I sold it at the start of season for $600. more than I paid for it and kept the Prodigy P2 brake controller. Sometimes things work out. Don't Get in a hurry

We solved the problem of "I want one bigger itch", when we bought our Pinnacle we went ahead and bought the longest non Toy Hauler 5th Wheel Jayco currently offers.
That way DW will not bother me about wanting to "Trade Up" !!!!

I bought a 2009 256RKS in Sept 2009 and in Oct 2010 bought a 2011 320 RLDS The trade cost us about $5000 in use on what I paid for the unit but it was so worth it for all the extra's we gained and lots more room. You only live once if it makes you happy and the other half supports that idea GO FOR IT.

That is a very nice floor plan. We can't get that two foot thing as our 330RLTS is as long as travel trailers come. We had a 5er and didn't like all the steps and not having our truck bed free.

I have to ask Clutch, how well does the TT tow compared to the 5er? I see so many 5er owners say they would never go back to TT because the 5er towed so much better, including my FIL. I`ve never towed one so I have no way of knowing other then these anecdotes.

To be honest I really can't tell much difference when towing. The lower profile helps, I think, and I always use the WD bars.

WOW, that is hilarious!!! It IS the "two footitis". Actually 3' for me, but I thought I was the only one that got it. hahaha
I am going to do more research, find a floorplan with slide-outs, manual awning, and swivel chairs.
In the meantime, enjoy this 23' baby I have now.

Also depends on how much you paid for your present one. Check NADA.com to get an idea of how much yours is worth. If you received a good enough deal on it, there is the possibility it could be worth more than you paid for it. It was the case for the 5er I have.

We are very happy with the 320rlds, love the larger tanks, and having recliners with the big rear window to look outside. It pulls very well with my ram 2500, we hold 65mph in 25 mph head winds and cross winds. The 320rlds is 35' 6" from ball to bumper.Most 18 wheelers going down the highway are 55', My truck and tt are at 56'.
