Valterra Sewer Solution
Just bought a valterra sewer solution, and did my first dump. This thing is great. My dump point is slightly above the tank drains, and this was the perfect solution. Its easy to set up, cleans up easily, dumps quick, and tears down easily. I highly recommend these thing.

I have been using one for the past 4 years...I concur with your assessment.

What would you guys say is the max distance the SS will work, real world? For one trip a year we could use a way to dump the black tank if needed (close enough to run a hose for the gray), but it is up to about 130' or so, pretty level ground......
Keep looking into different ways. Though this last trip we were ok for the 5 nights. Just like to have a way to dump if need be.

What are the advantages to using this system over the traditional 3" sewer hose? From what I can see, it's just something else I have to store in one of my RV compartments...which are quite limited. With the 3" hose, I have a convenient place to store it in my bumper.

It seems to be faster. For me, the advantage was that my dump location is slightly higher than my tank. This system can pump 100' plus or up to a 3' elevation increase. It is one more item, but it can also back flush the tank, and it is self flushing also.

I have 3 10' sections for use at the storage lot and it easily manages a 30' run.
Tyler, I bought mine to replace the "starter" slinky when we bought our first TT (X23B) and our storage was also limited. I found a storage tub that fit the shower pan. At the storage lot or in motion it stayed up there. At a CG the tub fit under the TT near the sewer connection.
I think it's a great system. Never had mine smell since its self-cleaning.

I have a 2' CPVC pipe (can also use copper) with a garden hose fitting glued on one end. The other end of the CPVC pipe fits into the SS hose, then I attach a standard garden hose on the other end in order to get more length. SS wants way too much money for their 10' hose sections. I like it just cuz it's a lot cleaner. However, I don't use it at a community dump station because it does take more time.

We have the black water flush with our White Hawk, so it's pretty clean. I'm not knocking this system, just wondering if there's something I'm missing or if I'm missing out on something.

The reason I would buy this is to be able to dump at home. My clean out is about a foot higher than my trailer in it's parking spot and about 35 feet across the yard. This looks like a pretty reasonable solution to using the TT as a guest house during the holidays and allowing the folks to actually use the facilities. Adding this to my do more research list.

I would say the biggest benefit behind this system is the pumping. Your 3" drains with the only pressure coming from a little bit of hydro-static head. You can NOT drain up hill with 3". If your dump location is at or above the height of the TT drain, you won't empty. Also, the 3" is limited in the distance it can drain. I don't have enough TT experience to know what that limitation is, but at some point, the flow through the 3" will not be sufficient to continue to move any solids along the hose.
The SS uses a venturi effect to actively pump the TT tank contents. It masserates (pulverizes) the solids in the process. This allows the SS system to drain to a dump location up to 3' higher (according to product info, I'm betting it could go more) than the TT drain, and also for distances of 100' or more.
If you are dumping in a more common manner, from site hook ups or a community dump, then the 3" should be fine. I bought the SS because my dump location at home is higher than my TT drain.

+1
This is exactly why this product is in my wish list. Also, if I'm at a park without hookups, I have to use the dump station. If there are people waiting, I'm not likely to get a real good flush on my tank. The SS would allow me to do it at home and take my time at a relatively small expense.

Surprised you think it's faster...
I'm not used one, though I have one...
But just the size difference between 3" and 1.5" inch leads me to expect the sewer solution to be slower. This guy's test seem to bear that out.

My statement was very subjective. I'm not concerned about the speed at anyrate. I'm in it for the pumping affect. And not having a built in flush, the back flush of the SS is handy.

The SS hose is smooth on the inside so it rinses cleaner and you can see when it is clear of all "stuff". Unless you are pumping uphill or long distances, there probably isn't that much to brag about. I just like it cuz it seems to be a cleaner procedure.
