Angry Very angry at Jayco management!!

Six weeks ago our local dealer took our order for a Eagle HT 26.5 RLS. We paid our deposit and looked forward to delivery supposedly late November. Everything seemed fine. We stopped looking at 5th wheels and threw away all our old literature of other brands and deals on paper.

Our dealer called yesterday to notify us Jayco Management at the top corporate level had made the decision to stop production on the 26.5 RLS. The decision was final, no period of filling orders already made, no cut off date just Kiss Off we won't honor your order!! Now we are back to square one and have to start all over again. We have a big trip planned for early next year and now time is running out. It takes time to decide what you want and now we have lost at least 6 weeks and are actually right where we were in late August.....looking at various brands and floorplans.

We have made one decision however. We will not consider Jayco!! This company has treated us badly and we will not trust them any further. To place an order for a slightly different Jayco may just put us in the same situation in a few weeks if "upper management" decides to change direction.

I would call Jayco and verify you are getting the correct story.
Jayco still has the HT you ordered advertised on their web page.

Personally something sounds fishy. Why not call or "e" mail JAYCO to vertify that info and the actual order cut off date. Maybe, just maybe your dealer didn't get the order submitted in a timely manner. Not saying it wasn't a last minute decision, but the web-site doesn't list "dealer stock only" for that model.

Usually they stop production when they don't get enough orders.

PS: dalebra beat me to it..

I agree with Grumpy..... Your not getting the truth or the whole story.

#1, seems unlikely they stopped production. The Jayco website lists a 2017 model 26.5RLS. If they are no longer in production, they usually are marked "Dealer stock only". That means they no longer produce them and can only be found on a dealers lot, not ordered.

#2 Even if they did stop production, that doesn't mean you can't find a dealer stock if that is the right floor plan for you. I ordered my Jayco, but I would have settled for a dealer stock that wasn't 100% right if I couldn't have ordered. The Jayco quality, features, warranty, reputation and price were more important than ordering it exactly right (if I couldn't have ordered).

I agree with the others, contact Jayco directly, or perhaps try another dealer. Sounds unusual to me that Jayco would refuse to take your money for a product they have the ability to make and sell. I know the RV industry is doing pretty good right now, but it just seems unlikely.

Please report back if/when you find out more info.

Go directly to Jayco to get the straight skinny. Something smells in Denmark.

The sales manager at my dealership showed me a printed email of the models they are stopping and the HT 26.5 RLS was listed along with other Jayco models of which I was not familiar with. He also told me it was very unusual that a cutoff date was not announced first or at least honor the current orders already taken!! This is a large and reputable dealership with a large inventory of many different brands and types. I believe the 26.5 RLS was the only HT model being stopped....just my luck. Now I don't trust Jayco and have begun to explore KZ Durango 1500 series. What has really upset me is the fact my order laid for 6 weeks before they announced their decision.

Well KZ is also a member of the Thor group just like Jayco. So you would still be patronizing the parent company. The sad fact is Thor and Forest River now control 83% of the RV market. Lack of competition is never a good thing.

Exactly right! I suspect Thor looks at all of their manufacturers and which models sell best and at what profit margin. Jayco, instead of being a separate entity, is now just a cog in a giant wheel. I've seen this very thing in other industries.
