Water Filter for JayFlight 26BH
Any recommendations for a JayFlight 26BH? I have seen many different ones people use at campgrounds but don't know which is best and which is overkill.
Is the purpose of a water filter for making the water drinkable? Keeping the pipes clean? Or both?
Thanks!

I just use a disposable filter on water hose to trailer and yes its helps make some water drinkable and keeps sediment out of lines and hot water heater.

That looks like one a friend of mine uses and works great, the ones I use just dont cost as much but they both will do the job.

I had a smaller Camco filter on mine a while back and it was just such a pain. So far in my area I have had good water and cant tell any difference. I have a filter screen on my inlet and that seems to catch anything. I dont feel like I am going to cause any problems with my plumbing system.

The big reason for the filter is the kids. When they brush their teeth at night the take a drink of water from the tap (like at home). This past trip they both complained about the water taste. Hence the start of this thread.

Here is what we use.
Our water is mainly used for cooking and washing, but we drink it occasionally too. Thus filter has worked great for us.

I am not sure the cheap filters are going to change the taste that much. I would think you would have to go up to the high dollar osmosis or whatever filters.
One suggestion is to take some bottled water for straight drinking.
Also - have you sanitized your system? Next time you camp try the water right out of the hose bib and see if it might be your pipes....

We use one of the cylinder filters that replaces a short section of removable tubing under a counter. It is primarily there to filter incoming city water, so that our dish washing, showers, and sink water is clean. It gets changed once a year. For drinking and cooking, we never trust the city water - we bring a few jugs of our home filtered well water along for that.

I get the disposable one you can buy at Wal Mart. We went to a CG that had terrible sulphur smell!! The entire TT smelled like a rotten egg!
I put the water filter on and ran the water for a few minutes and the filter eliminated the sulphur smell entirely.

We started using a Culligan RVF-10 RV water filter this year. Definitely helps with the taste of the water (at some CG's) and has replaceable cartridges.

Water Filter Project
Ok. I liked the Camco EVO from Amazon. I replicated it at Menards with the following parts:
Omni Filter Whole House Filter
DuPont Carbon Wrap Filter
Misc Hardware to adapt to a garden hose
I bolted it to a piece of a 2x4 and used some nylon rope to tie it to the wheel to keep it off the ground. Bought a few plastic quick disconnects to make for a quick hookup.
Total cost = $45. I could have bought the Camco and paid the shipping and not have to worry about putting it together but it was a fun afternoon project and I can buy the filters at Menards/Home Depot/Lowes and not have to worry about spending the extra money on shipping.
