Water tank fill port question

As I was doing some maintenance around the trailer today, I noticed that the fill port for the water tanks has a couple of "tabs" on the perimeter; looks like there might be a way to "attach" a fill hose. I know regular hose threads won't work, has anyone ever seen such an attachment mechanism?

TIA

Dave

My port allows for you to put the hose in and it holds it in place without pushing it all the way through. It uses the threads on the hose to attach.
Sorry can't take a pic now but if you post one that might help.

I haven't seen one, but then I haven't looked for one.

IIRC, connecting a water hose directly to the fresh water fill port without a water for the water to escape around the hose is not recommended. I believe it is because the pressure and flow rate might be too high for the vent system to handle. The high pressure could rupture the fresh water tank(s).

I use the water heater flush device on the end of a hose and stick that into the fill port. There's plenty of room for water to squirt back out of the filler port once the tank(s) is filled.
