Weber Q 220 to Jayco Quick Connect

Hello, I am wondering if someone can help me out.

I just purchased a Weber Q 220 and I want to connect it to the Quick Connect that is located on the side of my TT. Has anyone done this with success? and if so, how did you do it? Theres a lot of info on the web, but its all a bit confusing so I'm looking for someone that has done successfully this modification. Thanks, Jay!

I did it and then undid it because I thought the BBQ was not making enough flame, turned out it was the same flame when I put the regulator back on, just the way that BBQ works, love it by the way, best BBQ I have ever owned. I have not converted it back again because I am not sure I want to be restricted to the 15' hose I have. Any ways back to converting it, you need to take the regulator off the BBQ because the trailer is already regulating the gas for that outlet. There are a couple screws holding the bracket to the BBQ and then carefully unscrew the regulator off with a pipe wrench or a crescent wrench. I got the adapters that i needed at a BBQ specialty store here in Edmonton called BBQ country, I imagine you have some similar store in your area. I maybe got lucky I had a young parts guy that knew exactly what I wanted to do and picked all the pieces for me. Cost me about $15 for the fittings. Make sure you use the Teflon tape for gas fitting when you are putting it together. Good luck.

Thanks Jeff, I am anxious to do this. I feel if the connector is there it should be used. and I like the location. I've called all over with no help. Theres a propane place about 45 minutes away someone has suggested to me, but the guy that does all the fittings there is only there on weekends. I hope he has the answer! or the fittings.

Did this. Got a hose that plugs into the trailer under frame, then screws into where the 1 pound bottle goes, found out that it takes a little longer to lite, does not get as hot as with the 1 lb bottle, and takes longer to get hot. As far as cooking goes haven't tried that yet. Yes it is going through 2 regulaters. Our next trip is in Sept so will find out then how it workd. Talked to other campers who did the same thing and they said it works for them, they are not going to change out the regulater, so they can still use th 1 lb bottle or the new hose. Ernie

I had the hose made today. The grill got to 525 degrees after 15 minutes on the 1lb bottle and today I tested the new hose and it got to 475 degrees after 15 minutes. I think It will work just fine without removing the regulator.

Heres a link to a sticky that I did for another forum on gas grill and stove quick connects. It contains a lot of information and some photos.I thought I posted this the other day, but it looks like it didn't take. Hope this helps since we see a lot of threads on this subject

Thanks for the good info. Everyone keeps needing to keep up to date of this.

I need to get me some yellow tape and redo all my gas fittings that I have added to the flex lines.

Thanks for the reminder.

Yes I just completed this. I could post some pictures the next time I get the trailer here. I did the following:

1. Remove the regulator from the Weber Q.
2. Bought fittings so that I had a male quick connect on the BBQ
3. Put a female quick connect on the regulator, and a hose that connects to a standard propane tank (in case I want to use the BBQ without the trailer)
4. Purchased the "special rv male adapter" from the RV store. The female end on the trailer is not a standard air hose fitting, you need to purchase the appropriate male fitting from your local RV shop.
5. Made a hose with with a standard female fitting on one end that connects to the male quick connect on the weber Q and put the special RV male end on the other side of the hose to connect to the RV quick connect.

Weber Q 220 to Jayco Quick Connect

Mine did. Make sure you can put your hand on the box with the grill and verify the hose is there with the quick connects on each end, male one end female on the other.
Also verify the combo bracket for hanging it on the trailer or sitting on a table is with it.

Quantum that is a great idea. I never thought of putting a male end into the regulator so I could use the BBQ without the trailer with a little disposable propane bottle if I want. Now I have to go I out to the garage and try and find my regulator.

Quick disconnect for propane

Does anyone out there now what brand of quick disconnects Jayco uses for the grill outlet? I have the female on the unit and need a male that fits and can't read what the brand is. I bought one from CW and it does not fit.

I just bought a camco 10' extension and it worked fine. I converted my weber with the fitting from the sidekick grill that came with the motorhome.

According to the hose I have it says "Cast Products Corp. use 829000 plug only". Good luck with that. I finally gave up and got a 10' extension that I hook up directly to one of the 30# tanks. I also got a plug at CW that did not fit. For some reason the brass was thicker and would not plug into the female fitting.

I bought a ten foot quick connect hose from amazon (one end male, one end female) and it fit perfectly. Perhaps I was just lucky. I bought this one:
Campco 57282 on Amazon.

My weber Q100 does great without doing any mods to it. It does not get as hot, takes a little longer heating up but other than that works great. The reason I don't want to change the reg out is that I still use the 1 pound bottles and I want all the options that I can do.

I have a Q220. Do not use it with the Jayco gas outlet. I like to put it on a picnic table and use a 1.4 gal propane tank, which has the same fitting as a regular 20 or 30 lb. tank.

So the regulator stays on the grill. Found a 15' hose at Home Depot that will fit the grill and the tank. I have a stand for the grill if there is no picnic table and can hook it to one of the tanks on the front of the trailer if necessary.
