Up here in BC (Western Canada) the signs for the scales usually read " Commercial Vehicles/All Vehicles over xxxxkg gvw must report to scales" this goes by licensed gvw of the TV... NOT the coinbined weight of TV and TT. Sometimes it would be a good thing if they went with combined weight. (I wonder how many would be in trouble if they did bring everyone towing across the scales for wnforcemwnt)
Happy Camping

I'm a staunch Libertarian with Republican leanings. I will NEVER advocate MORE governmental interference in the lives of ordinary citizens or businesses.

However, without somebody looking over their shoulder, what's to keep the industry from falling deeper into cutting corners and building shoddy products?

Are the standards set by the RVIA adequate? Are they open for public (RV owner's) inspection? Who/what updates the standards? Who/what determines that a particular manufacturer is meeting those standards? What happens when those standards aren't met?

More government interference? NO! More RV owners taking an effective stand with more than just our money? Yes!

I agree.

The only way to make a change in quality is to refuse to buy shoddy products if they are overpriced.

I have traveled through, NY, NJ, PA, MD, VA, NC, TN, SC, GA and FL. I've never pulled in to a weigh station and I've never been stopped for not doing so.

Me either. I just get in the left lane and make way to let the truckers back in the entrance lane.

Here is where you and I part company.

I feel it is necessary to get the RVIA to be an advocate for the users of RV's not an "Old Boys' Club" for the manufacturers.

Kinda like the BBB, but with some teeth. Maybe a user-supported organization along the lines of the AAA?

Why produce a product that is known to be shoddy? Why is undercutting the next guy's price such a priority?

[We gotta take this to another thread.]
