What purchase/mod would you recommend to others?

If you could list just two items, WHAT would be your best/wisest [1] add-on purchase and [2] modification (that didn't invalidate warranty) to your rig, and WHY would you recommend it?

[1] Purchase: portable water softener to add in-line when there are hook-ups because it removes minerals that can clog pipes
[2] Mod: water on/off valve added in-line to the shower nozzle because we can get more showers with less water waste

1) 12 volt TV because most of our outings are dry camping and we like to watch TV after quiet hours.
2) LED dome light bulbs because we don't have to worry so much about battery drain during dry camping.

Ustabslim, why the rear trailer hitch? Isn't tandem trailer towing illegal in most states unless you have a commercial drivers license?

I've double towed in about every state..no problems. No commercial lic required.
Hitch also used for bikes..racks etc.

1) Hensley Arrow hitch. Best hitch for towing safety
2) Solar system with whole house inverter.. that way you can camp out in nature and not in some sardine campground with your neighbor 2' away

Well since you have a White Hawk,

1. Digital thermostat - much greater control over temp in trailer.
Coleman direct replacement, a 10 minute job for about $70 at Amazon

2. Replace faucet in bathroom sink with standard 4" house type.
I got a decent brushed nickel one for about $50 at Lowes.
Why? You can actually get your hands under it. Better water flow.
Again a very easy 10 minute Job. Hand tighten the water lines.

There are threads on this forum about both of these mods.

Great minds think alike, Nighthawk96. I just switched out the thermostat before this last outing and am planning to switch out the faucet before the next one.

I like the Coleman digital thermostat but I noticed that it isn't very accurate. We have an indoor/outdoor thermometer and it "feels" about right. The Coleman will show 70 degrees when I know it is 68 degrees according to the other thermometer. Is there an adjustment? Fortunately it is consistent and holds the temp very well.

I have a thermometer mounted over the thermostat and it agrees with the reading on the thermostat. I don't know of any adjustment.

I have found that in my trailer where the thermostat is mounted just to the left of the fridge and is also right under the a/c unit that I have to shut off the vent that blows toward the fridge or I will get too much cold air on the thermostat.

I'm lazy and don't check tire pressure often. A TPMS system would have been nice. Also a factory set of built in levels, visible from the cab (FW).

And I'd gladly trade the tele's for a quality inside/outside sound system.

Good idea, Nighthawk. I'll put a thermometer above the t-stat and compare the two. I have the t-meter next to the kitchen sink and the t-stat is right across the walkway from the frig.

Just two?

1) Electrical Management System for sure! For power surge, low voltage, and faulty ground protection - especially while operating the air conditioner.
2) LED light bulbs - for both the energy (battery) conservation AND the extended bulb life. I burned out four of the OEM incandescent bulbs in the first 2 months of full timing. I replaced those (and about 1/3 of the others) with LED's I found at Menard's. Haven't had to replace one of them yet. Plan on changing out the rest as the budget allows. Glad Jayco has gone with these as standard, now.

My generator has also come in handy when the power went out at two different campgrounds. And I love the solar-powered LED light strip I added under my awning! Of coarse, the roll-out trays I built for my pantry, and the "nesting racks" for my dishes are great mods, as well. Next mod is a PSW inverter, so I can run my C-PAP machine off my battery. Would get much better sleep when stopped at a rest area. Then a pair of true deep-cycle batteries, so I can make it through the night on just the batteries. Rustic camping, her I come! After that, covers for the ceiling vents, a digital thermostat . . . do we ever stop adding mods?

I have a few different things
1) Same general floor plan, just on a heavier duty frame
2) Electrically heated floor
3) Built in surge protector

A high quality sound system is something you have in your stick house; which is why I would never full time, among other reasons!

1) Generator (we do a lot of dry camping and need to keep the batteries fresh). Will be purchasing one for this season.

2) A truck bed rack to haul our canoe while towing the TT. Will purchase when we find a good price on one that does not require drilling.
