Snowing here. Only second time this winter. Looks nice but I'm itching for spring now. 49 days to opening day at our seasonal site.

Absolutely gorgeous here in North Western North Carolina. Pushing 70 degrees and wonderfully sunny. Shoulda been camping....

Pulled into Balmorhea State Park (W. TX) last Sat., temp was 96! Arrived in Rio Grande Village in Big Bend NP on Sunday, temp was 95! Same thing on Monday, and it didn't cool down until midnight. ... Mornings were pleasant, in upper 40s-mid 50s; but days warmed quickly, especially in the desert. Wildflowers were blooming, including a paltry crop of bluebonnets, mostly along the roadsides near Rio Grande Village. Not enough moisture for them elsewhere, I guess just enough road runoff allowed those to sprout. We camped at S. Llano River SP on Wed. night, high was more pleasant 74. Low yesterday was 41, high 72; today's low was 60 and current temp is 81. (We live 25 miles west of Austin.) Redbuds in town are beginning to bloom; but NWS says we have another norther moving through mid-week. I just hope it brings rain. The drought has resumed after taking a vacation in Sep., Oct. and Nov.

FWIW, BBNP only has 25 RV sites with hookups, at Rio Grande Village. Dry camping is allowed (a limited generator area) in the nearby CG. The full service CG was near capacity; the regular CG was about 65% full. More folks than we've ever seen there in Feb.

The 2011 drought took a toll on desert vegetation: lots of dead lechuguilla, sotol, creosote bush, etc. Park hdqtrs. at Panther Junction recorded 2.97" of rain for the year; plus 3 days in the first week of Feb. the temp stayed around 0 F. When desert plants die, you know it's bad. ...

23 cm of snow today. Looks cool but sadly not enough to take tomorrow off work. So sad.

Our power has been out most of the day and tonight were at a Best Western. It's not camping but it's away from the house and it feels like the start of a road trip. In April we'll be off and running.

On the up side, we had our first snow free weekend of the year this past weekend. Unfortunately tho, we're headed back below zero for the next 1 1/2 weeks. To think daylight savings time kicks in 2 weeks from now March 9th.

Sunny and mid-50s today.....very deceiving as the temp drops tomorrow and we head back to our typical grey, overcast skies. I am ready to go camping on days like this.

73 at 7:36pm here in Casa Grande.

Suppose to get some rain coming in from CA but right now looks to be North of us and even North of Phoenix.

We'll see.

Almost up to 20*f here, I got cold just reading these had to go put more wood on the fire!!! About 18" of hard packed snow on the ground now and a possible foot coming Sunday night. It's great being retired, saves me the trouble of calling in on snow days.
