What would you do?
Loaded everything up for our first trip late this month. Took the rig to some scales and weights are AOK. The trailer docs said to set the top of the ball height to 20" which it is exactly. The tongue weight is @ 400#. Looking at the attached pic, and in person, the trailer is pointing up a little. I would think this would put more weight on the rear trailer tires. Should I drop the ball another inch or what ever is necessary to get the trailer more level?
Thanks for any help or opinions.

I would drop that trailer nose a little bit if it was me.

As mentioned, lower the front for the best control.

Looks like you have room to pull the car forward some more, that would also help.

I think the car is where it should be. It looks well centered over the tandem axles.

Putting the car closer to the front of the trailer will help if he ends up needing more tongue weight. I don't know if he does or not, but it will help if he does.

he said his weights are good. 400 pounds would be close to 10percent which is ideal.
He just needs to lower the ball.

Thanks again for the advice. I had to lower the ball 4" and the trailer is now perfectly level. Like I said I have 400# at the tongue. Rigs has a 500# limit on tongue, and 5,000# tow weight. It weighs 4,820#, so no carrying anything in the car.

How do you know 400# would be close to 10%, he didn't give any weights in his first post. If you go by the weight he gives in his second post, 10% would be 482# He will be 82# shy of the 10%

10 to 15% is not an absolute. I can only go to 500# so I aimed for @ 400#, as long as I don't get any trailer sway I should be OK. I can always get a little more if necessary, but it doesn't take much to increase or decrease the tongue weight.. Below is a link to a page from Etrailer.com that I used to weigh the tongue weight, drop down 1 page. I did put a grove in both ends of the 2x4 to make it easier to set the pipe in the right place. I used 4' between the pipes to make the math easier. I imagine the scale could be off a little, so I'm not going to try to get the weight to the exact #.
