What's your favorite RV Toilet Paper??

Do you use just "septic approved" or a true RV fine grit paper?

Scott's septic safe I think. Never a problem in conjunction with the geo-method / my own home brew. Don't use the "RV" toilet paper as it sucks to be honest, plus it's expensive. We order the Scott's by the box on Amazon I believe.

This has been asked many times before and there is no single or right answer: Some use RV toilet paper and some don't; some test their paper and some don't; some use single ply and some don't; some ban using the toilet for '#2' and some don't; some put toilet paper used for '#1' in a plastic bag and toss that in the park's trash and some don't. IMO, if you're a 'newbie', use RV paper until you feel comfortable when dumping your tanks.

A few things that almost everyone agrees on:
- Keep your black tank valve closed until you need to dump. Leaving the valve open drains the liquids that push the solids out and down the hose.
- Make sure you have significant water in the gray tank and drain that AFTER the black tank to 'rinse out' the sewer hose.
- If there will be paper and '#2' in the black tank, then add several gallons of water after dumping the black tank so stuff isn't stuck on the tank bottom.
- If there will be paper and '#2' in the black tank, then use a generous amount of water when flushing.
- If your black tank has a tank rinser installed, USE IT. If it doesn't, you'll probably need to buy one you insert through the toilet to rinse the tank.
- Buy a short section of clear sewer pipe that twists on at the dump valve. That will let you see what is flowing out of the tanks.

It was more so just a curiosity question. Dumping isn't an issue for us, its getting our Costco brand down and around the bend once we flush! Tends to hang around in there and out comes the auger. We have the clear sectioned elbow as well. So can we just drain some of the gray water into the black tank to keep that "several gallons of water on the tank bottom?"

Initially I thought you meant after you take a "dump", but husband Greg said no, no, no, after you dump the black tank!

Lol, that's funny but to be honest we never do #2 in the trailer. We do allow the Grandkids to use it whenever they join us.

We don't send paper down. We also use wipes and they go in the waste basket as well.

We use Scott I believe. But we really don't #2 in it either.

Angel Soft (which is septic safe). We use it at home too. And like a few previous have mentioned, we don't do #2 in the camper.

Kirkland (Costco brand)
RV specific is too much like using sandpaper... all mine goes down into the holding tank.. Had this rig for 7 years now with no problems.. but then I don't dump till the black tank is full...

We use all the facilities to their full potential in our camper, that's why we bought it. We have a nice residential foot flush toilet that we know is clean, just like the sheets on our bed. Public facilities gross me out half the time. To each his own, I guess. Proper black tank management is the key. To the OP, we use Angel Soft with no issue with the tissue to date.

Agreed with public restrooms. A lot of nasty things happen in there. By the time you set up your space to make it somewhat reasonable to sit, your window of opportunity passes then you gotta start over. Ugg. Much prefer my own seat. Plus you get the enjoyment of watching it pass through the clear elbow at the dump facilities. Lol

Scott from Walmart (in the RV section), only $3.17 for a 4-pack. 2 yest full timing, never an issue. Good quality product. Supports the old adage "No job is done until the paperwork is done".

Full timers but still active duty AF, anxiously awaiting retirement travels where I have been told everyday is a Saturday

We use whatever is on sale in the huge family packs. We dump the black tank when it's full. If I have full hookups I fill the black tank about 1/2 way with water and then dump on full and repeat. If we are in a state park I finish filling the tank with water before we go to the dump station. If I am leaving in the morning and the tank is 1/3 full I fill it 2/3 full the night before we leave and then top it off before heading to the dump station. The issues with black tanks is more related to the water content than to what type of paper you use.
