Wheel chock expiration date!

I've got a pair of those yellow plastic wheel chocks that were a parting gift from the previous owner of my TT. This morning I was moving them around and just happened to take a closer look at them to find the following molded into the side of the block, "Do not use after 06/2011."

Go figure. The plastic probably decomposes when exposed to UV light for extended periods of time (continuous outdoor use).

Mine expired when I ran over them. Lesson learned the hard way.

This reminds me of a trick I pulled at a campground. I very careful made a ramp of the stacks to where it was six high on both sides front using both wood and extra blocks. I also made sure the RV would not move while I did it. I then remove the ramp so that the front of the RV was sitting on six high stack of the blocks, nothing else. Got a few strange looks. Did not leave it to long.

Mine expire this year and only use them at home now. I noticed this last year when moving stuff from one camper to the other. I now own a set of these rubber ones. Very well made and no expiration date.

I'm surprised auto manufacturers don't put expiration dates on cars...they could sell a whole lot more to the "outdated and throw it away" folks!!

My yellow chocks expired in 2008. I'm still using them.

Thats interesting... I will have to check mine out. Another thing that has an expiration date is a portable air tank. I suspose after so many years the metal can weaken and maybe it could fail under pressure? I'm guessing its just an insurance policy for the manufactures of these items...

On another forum the guys are buying the Anderson leveling system. It has become very popular. You can raise and chalk your trailer in one step, and just drive off the system when your ready to go. Rather expensive but this makes me wonder if it has a expiration date.

I never knew that they expired!
I do have a bent one (yellow) that was run over,
My friends just got a motor home, So I got a lot of things from them, RV cover
Tires covers, More chocks I have about 10 of them now.
clear plastic screen door slide.
I will be getting a 4 foot board to drive up on for leveling
I had one, Loan the truck to some friends so they could do some burning in the back yard, (yes they burned it) I would just leave it in the truck.
what one more piece of wood.
