When do I dewinterize

I feel like I ask alot of stupid questions but I would like to know when to dewinterize. I live in southwestern ontario and its warming up but there are mornings it is near freezing. I have time this weekend or should I wait a couple of weeks.

Well I`ve been known to dewinterize a bit early or winterize a bit late to get in one more December trip. In that case I run a small electric space heater any questionable nights. Water heater and low point drains should be empty if a hard freeze is expected. Nights just below freezing I say you will be fine. But Canada weather is a bit different then eastern VA! So play it by ear if ya dewinterize and hear about an unusual cold snap, run the electric heater. -Lee

Since your new HTT is under factory warranty and "no resistance" questions / fixes at your RV Dealer for the next 30 days, it would be best to call your RV Dealer to ask about de-winterizing. re: The many "When and how?" type questions. If an RV / TT was under NO warranty (re: Jayco older then 2 years), I'd take the risk of de-winterizing an RV / trailer "today". Even if temps drop into-5 Cs (Canadian temp scale), it would need 2 consistant days to freeze things up. Very low odds of having 2 consecutive nights and days of -5C weather in your region this time of year. If wondering, most folks in South Ontario de-winterize their RVs at end of April / early May (after the April Showers rainy month is done).

If wondering, I'll be de-winterizing my seasonal site TT in mid May (when our seasonal site opens).

I don't do the dewinterization until I take it out for the first campout- and I do it at the campground.

There's no rule or law that says you need to do it by a certain date, temperature, etc.

Freeze ups are not a warranty item. Do it when you feel comfortable. If you are going to use it right away then do it and use a small electric heater. If your first outing is a month away why rush it?

We just returned from Az and our trailer is sitting in the yard with the small electric heater running. We got 3 inches of snow last night

It is true the de-winterizing is NOT associated with warranty. However.... If one calls their RV dealer (during that 30 day "no hassle" time period) and dealer does approve de-winterizing NOW, then surprise deep freeze lands in the region and splits pipes, the repair is on ther RV Dealer's shoulders. re: They said yes for this time of year and now its broke. IMO, the RV dealer fixes the "too early" de-winterizing problems for free. Especially since they approved it.
