Norty1 I am definitely interested in suggestions. I am looking for places around the halfway mark or so. I am thinking Daytona area on the way down. We are hoping for beach areas and or very kid friendly.

With the boy in kindergarten this year and me working from home, I'd like to do a boys long trip somewhere this summer when he's on summer break. Not sure where yet.
We went to the falls a few years back and stayed at fort niagara state park. Nice campground and on the shore of Lake Ontario. It's just north of the falls on the us side. If you go over the Canadian side the tour behind the falls is pretty cool. Not much to really see except being so close to all that water. We still have the plastic ponchos that they give out in the camper just in case.

At least two trips to the Adirondacks (Memorial day and FOTA [end of September])

Plus the "Taste of Country Music" Festival at Hunter Mountain June 10-12.

So far, two trips to the 1000 Islands, one on the east side of Lake Ontario, and then to Gettysburg for ten days of being a tourist.

Try to get reservations at Anastasia SP in St. Augustine. I can't give you much South of there because we usually camp on the Gulf side. Most of our o/n's are in Georgia near I-95.

Most Sp's in Florida are full unless you make reservations ahead.

Our goal is to spend 5 days in Massachusetts on Cape Cod. On the trip there and back we will have extended stopovers in Sault St Marie, Niagara Falls, and Chicago. Should be fun. Maybe Chicago not so much, but my daughter wants to see the windy city.
What campground near Chicago do you plan on staying at? Cook county forest preserve just opened a handful of campgrounds.

Heading to Sherwood Forest Faire in Paige, Texas Thursday through Monday.

I attend several every year and intend to attend more across the country now that I have a new TT.

If you ever get a chance to participate in one, I say go for it. Lost of fun for the family. Kids love the costumes and dressing up. Lots of different shows for entertainment and the food and beverages are pretty good too.
