Where is the best place to store the sewer hose?

OK, maybe this is a dumb question...but one that can have a big impact!

I am a complete newbie. We just bought a 2010 Greyhawk 31FK. We are heading out on our first trip this weekend. The past couple weeks I have been collecting the various accessories I need. One of which was a sewer hose. From reading posts I went with the Rhino Flex. Since it is new in the box, it will ride nicely in the storage compartment on the way there...but after we use it...where do you put it?

The MH has this nice (so I thought) storage tube compartment, but the Rhino doesn't fit in there. It seems it was made for the hose only...the fixtures on each won't fit.

I coil mine up in a 5 gallon chlorine tablet bucket with a screw on lid. The bucket gets stored in the shower. When I dump, I'll fill up the bucket with water and pour it down the toilet after the tank is empty to rinse it and get out any residual items.

The standard hose and fittings do fit in the bumper on our TT but I think the Rhino Flex (RF) has larger fittings. What some folks have done is to mount a hollow plastic fence post under their TT that will accommodate the larger RF.

I also use an old drywall 5 gal bucket with lid for all hose and fittings.

There is really no "standard" place. Look around at the many and varied ideas that others have used to resolve the issue that suits your case and then unabashedly copy it and modify it to suit your rig. Many threads are on this forum with that info.

I use a 6 in. PVC fence post cover that is attached under my rig. I have plenty of room for a Rhino flex 15' w/ attachments and a 5' section for addl. length that can be added to the other one. if needed.

I use the 4 inch bumper to store my PVC hose supports, 2 sections of a split 4 inch pipe, slid into the bumper.

I also bought the Rhino Flex for our new trailer and it fit in the bumper just fine. You make need to kinda move it around a bit until the "hooks" find their way in, but it should fit just fine, it will be snug so it won't move around in the bumper.

Like Norty, I use a 5" square PVC fence post cover to store my sewer hose. I made it from parts obtained at Lowes, but any hardware store can order the vinyl fence post covers. The hinges are Igloo cooler replacement hinges

I made mine 9 years ago and it's still going strong. I keep my nice hose in it and the hose I use at the dump station in the stock bumper tube.

Might not work on a motorhome, but you might be able to make a modification to make it work for you.

My Rhino fits in my bumper with the sewer end going in first. I also keep a 20QT tub with my connections, gloves, grey and spare "blue" hose in the storage compartment. The post PVC is a great alternative and easy mod as shown above since it allows for you to keep it out of your lockers and has wiggle room for the hose to get in and out.

Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like I will grab a 5g bucket for this weekend. And next week I will work on attaching my own tube/post. Thanks for the pics drfife. It will give me something to work to.

Thats what I do with mine. You have to move it around a little to get it in.

We bought a 10 gallon Rubbermaid container w/lid and it fits perfectly. We will haul it in the bed of the truck instead of our "living" quarters.

I use the bumper for the hose, a small tote for the fittings. I have the Rhinoflex and the end would not fit in the bumper until I cut off the "ears" that stick out.

Any weather proof hinge would work.

With the Rhino flex (at least on mine) if it doesn't fit, turn it 90 degrees and it'll slide right it - I don't know why, but it fits in one way and not the other.

I keep mine in the bumper, but I'm not sure it's the "best" place as I have had some rust staining on my hose, and I wonder if there are long term issues with the bumper. But I hate the thought of having to stick an extra bucket in my storage areas. I'm kind of an organization nut, and hate "extra" stuff lying all over.

For the first year that I owned my Jayco, I couldn't get my Rhino Flex inside my bumper but after reading some obscure post on another RV Forum (which I don't do now since I found JOF) I just turn the hose a tad to where the ears fit in the corners of the bumpers. No wiggle room but the hose and connector fit just right.
