Who Drives

Ok I asked this on another fourm the answers were differrnt too. Well here goes. Who Drives when your on the road going to the RV Park ???? or going home.

I asked the old prom queen to give it a try, but got the LOOK !!! you all know the "LOOK". Well I told her she is going to a driving school this year.
(RVDriving School ) I did tell her we would both take the course even though I have a CDL. I figure everybody can learn something. Well before I get back in the Dog House she is a great co-pilot, Cook & bottle washer. OK I pitch in too.

We take turns driving. I am the designated hooker upper and she is the designated tell me how to hooker up. After that it is a matter of who wants to drive first. Because I do not see as well at night and in low light conditions, my wife generally drives at these times if we leave early or do not reach our destination before dark. I am the designated put it in the camping space and level 'er up guru. She is the designated power out the slide person and I am the designated make sure it doesn't hit anything person. We have been cooperating and collaborating for over 38 years and so far we haven't killed one another though at times she would have been justified!

I must admit. She is scared to drive the Motorhome, and I am scared to let her. I do realize that she needs to learn to drive it though in case something happens to me while on the road. I drive, completely level and setup. In her defense, it is somewhat hard for her to get around with bad knees. She will, however drive the toad up behind the motorhome so that I can hook it up. I was amused at her once when we were doing a local move. We had gone about 80 miles and I noticed the headlights came on on the toad ( automatically come on at dusk). I stopped to see what was going on, and she had left the toad at idle when we hooked up. Of course, no damage but wasted gas.
Good thing is she loves to travel in the motorhome, so that makes it worthwhile.

I do. My wife can drive, but I do almost all the towing.

My wife will not drive if we are pulling out TT. She is deathly afraid to pull the TT. She will drive the truck anytime, but with the TT behind it.
We have talked about finding a training class or session to attend, but we have not looked to seriously. That may change this coming spring.
I do not mean to take a different direction in this thread, but if anyone knows of a course, class or seminar that teaches towing, please let me know. Either in this thread so others may know or simply send me a Private message.
We looked in to a few videos, but that is not the same as actual "Hands-On" backing, turning and driving.

I got my wife to pull the 5th wheel about 200 yards last year in the campground, she met me at the checkout as I was returning the snow shovel I borrowed from the owner.Other than that, I have been trying for abour 5 years to get her to pull. Maybe this year, we are going full time in August.

Hubby spent a lot of years behind the wheel in his career in law enforcement. I loved driving but only got to do it when we traveled (except the two years that I was a bus driver when I was 21yrs old). Soooooo ultimately I drive 95%+ on our cross country trips. He actually prefers to just kick back and enjoy the scenery or snooze! I love being behind the wheel!

As for hookin' up and unhitchin'... we play tag team. We sorta have fallen into our favorite tasks in the routine and when all is said and done, we double check the other.

Well I have to admit when the DW drives the car I am un-easy. That said I had her hook-up to the trailer. Alot of pulling forward and backing up, but I finally relized it takes time.
Then I had her pull out the drive way and back up to the barn. O'Ya the drive way is 350 ft long. She didn't do too bad. I just kept saying take baby steps slow and easy.
I would like to go to am RV driving school for both of us. Never hurts to have a back up driver. Well I better get off here as I caused enought trouble if she reads this !!!

Same here. DW takes care of a lot of other stuff for the trip, though.

I do all the driving. My DW is extremely afraid of the length and will not even attempt to get behind the wheel. In fact she won't even drive my truck without the trailer attached...

X2, My DW hates to drive on a normal day. She has probably only driven our truck maybe it 12 times in 13 years. Most of those drives were during one week, while she was staying in the TT solo. As I was staying with the scouts a few miles down the gravel road. I don't think she has ever driven it on a paved road, or over 15 mph.

Other than driving we tend to share the camping chores fairly equally.

I do all of the truck/trailer related stuff. DW refuses to drive the truck. I keep telling her it's no different that driving her little econo-box car, except it's longer, taller, wider, and more powerful. She probably would, but it would most likely mean we're in a situation where I need to get to a hospital NOW. But she pays attention to what I'm doing, and even on occasion has pointed out something during the hooking or unhooking process that I've forgotten. Besides, she fully understands that the truck and the trailer are MY toys.

SWMBO can not drive, so I do all the driving, setup and tear down, inside and out. SWMBO is keeping the little one out of my way, as he gets older she wants to help (read get in the way) more

My dw takes a turn driving.

She has never mastered backing so I'm in charge of that always.
