Worth the money ?

Just got our new jayco and was offered the extended warranty, was woundering if anyone else purchased it. If so have you used it and is it worth the money. Can't decide to get it or not, kinda expensive any insight would help.

I never get an extended warranty on anything and have never regretted it yet. Think about what can go wrong, that would be covered, and how much they want for the warranty to see if its worth it. Seems like leaks are common and they wont cover that anyway. Put the money in the bank.

Good insurance is a surge protector. You should look at one that protects against over/under voltage protection.

Our extended warranty was offered free as a buying incentive. It was either that or low financing for a year or two. We chose the warranty since our plan was to pay it off fast. Now we don't owe a cent on it and have a 7yr warranty. If I had to pay for it I would probably decline. Major things are noticed in the first 2yrs anyway.

I have also noticed that dealerships put warranty work as last priority over paying customers, especially if you take it to a dealer other than the one purchased from. I have an intermittent outdoor speaker, called a dealership about getting it fixed under warranty, and was told he could get to it at the end of August... Soooo maybe worth it maybe not?

We did not purchase the warranty. Figure we have 2 years factory to work any initial bugs out. On our last trailer (purchased used) I purchased an extended warantey that i never used.

I think its a gamble either way. Pay now, or pay later. If you roll the dice an have to pay out for a repair, it may or may not exceed what the warranty would have cost. There will be future opportunity to purchase a warranty down the road if you think you need one.

Warranty hard to get them to pay out the claims.. and remember if the company paid out more than it took in it would go broke.. As my body man told me when I asked about an extended car warranty.. " put that money in the bank and use it to pay for any repairs"

I'm of the belief that if you need to buy an extended warranty then you may need to be looking for a better quality product to spend your money on in the first place. Extended warranties are huge revenue generators for dealers and retailers and generally don't offer any better coverage than the factory warranty AND are often concurrent with the factory warranty anyway. In other words, most extended warranty periods do not start when the factory warranty is up, they start from the time you purchase the extended warranty.

Save your money or buy some other RV accessories that you can use.

It depends. Is it a trailer or drivable unit? Are you handy and comfortable working on your unit? Trailers are not complicated things to maintain. Many of us do our mods, etc. Personally I would never buy an extended warranty on a trailer.

However, driveable RV are vehicles, so you have to weigh that out also. If you're not handy, a warranty from the right company may save you a lot of headaches and stress.
