Wow 91mph winds while camping last night

We were spending our last night camping at Grand Haven State Park right on the beach at Lake Michigan. They had predicted a storm with lots of heavy rain and strong winds for last night. I was awakened at 2:30 am from the shaking of the trailer and sound of wind, I got up and went outside and watched the trailer move about a foot across the pavement. The wind was blowing the sand so hard I felt like I was getting sandblasted. Soon about everyone was out of their trailers checking things out, then the rain came and chased us all back inside. When I got back outside this morning and few guys told me winds were clocked at 121 mph out on the lake and it hit 91 mph at the marine weather station on the pier. I was surprised nothing got blown over, my back end was facing the lake but some caught the wind on the side of the TT.

Glad to hear that you made out OK. With that kind of wind there's no telling what may have happened... We got caught in a freak wind storm this past Easter Sunday. Nothing to the extent you are talking about but it took a tree down destroying a 10 by 10 Canopy and did some serious truck damage. My wife was hit by some of the branches.

That system just came through here. 50 mph winds and half dollar size hail. I told wife I was glad we weren't camping. Wicked

A trucking company in Albuquerque found out that an empty semi trailer is overturned by 70mph winds.

Glad you are OK.

Glad to hear there was no damage. We went through a similar storm a couple years ago at our seasonal site. 80 mph straight line winds that hit us directly. The NWS predicted a severe thunderstorm warning, no mention of high winds. The awning was out and thanks to the camco awning tie downs, the awning survived. It moved a lot, but survived. The springs on the tie downs did not survive, but they saved the awning. We were without power for 5 days after that storm. Every single power pole from the entrance to our site (about 6) had some sort of damage.

Our site is directly across from a farm, so we regularly have wind on our site. Sometimes a cool breeze, sometimes 20 mph sustained winds.

We were a couple miles north of you at PJ Hoffmaster. I was shocked that the DNR didn't drive around warning people of the storm. We had a large branch land on our roof and was glad no damage was done. The following morning the wife and I took a walk and couldn't believe all the downed trees and broken limbs throughout the park. We even got to see an easy up up in a tree. One of the most scariest situation we have ever camped in.
