1985 Jayco 2450

I am new to RV'ing, and as an entry point, we picked a 1985 Jayco 2450. It needs some work, but at $1500, with most everything working and good tires, we felt we could afford to learn on this one. We are home brewers like to go to beer festivals, and we would like to put two beer taps in the side, something we would not attempt on anything more expensive.

At least I thought most everything was working. Here are my problems.

1) the refrigerator works on electricity but not gas. I have heard that you can clean the gas jet and would appreciate any information on this.
2) the pumps are not getting any current (I have a multi-meter, no current to the pumps). I cannot find a wiring diagram for this camper and would appreciate any ideas on how to proceed fixing this. The lights and
fans in the bathroom also d not work so I suspect I have some sort of power issue on a circuit. Is there a GFI circuit that controls the bathroom and pumps?
3) the gas to the oven does not work. It came with a new oven that had not been installed, but if I could fix this one, I could sell the new one and, say, buy an awning.
4) I seem to have a leak in the roof, what is the best way to seal the roof. I figure I should just seal the entire thing, better safe than sorry.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on your Jayco and welcome to the JOF. In 1998 I bought a 1975 Winnebago Brave so I can relate somewhat to what you are going through.
These are just some random thoughts on your issues:
1. The refrigerator won't work on gas - can you heard the igniter trying to light or sparking? If so most of the time there is an air lock preventing gas to flow to the unit. Over the years I have found the same condition after storage and once I run all the other gas appliances for a few minutes the refer lights right up. (see #3 also)
2.The water pump and the bath fan are all 12 volt powered. Since you have multiple items not working start checking the 12 volt system first as that is where the problem/solution rests.
3. Gas to the stove, you have a gas monitor on board. It is a plastic rectangular housing with a switch and indicator light. If it is off, no gas flows. This is 12 volt powered as well (as are the 12v appliances in question #2 so this might be your problem and solution to #1 as well)
4. Leaks can be the hardest problems to track down to the source. Usually it is related to a seam. You will need to evaluate the condition of the whole roof due to the age but there are coatings that may or may not work for a solution. Seams and around surface openings for vents and things need to be chalked with the proper material. Dicor products come to mind here, self leveling chalk. EternaBond tape is by far the best seam seal cover made. Check it out and if you need it is worth its weight in gold.

Good luck on fixing up your Jayco. It can be both fun and aggravating at the same time!

Yep,
May check your 12V converter. Should be putting out 12.5V - 13.5V on the big wire coming out the back that go to your battery.

Just a thought.
