Another newbie from South Carolina
I've been lurking here for several weeks and have joined your group in hopes of getting occasional help for my latest project. I recently purchased a (well) used Jayco 1006 Deluxe for a winter project. It is in pretty good shape and will serve well as a base for what I plan to do. As a bit of background, I have gone through the teardrop camper phase, having built my own and used it for a while before selling it. I like the concept of basic camping but found the TD just a little claustrophobic. My plan is to make the Jayco into a basic stand up camper for two by removing all the canvas and the outrigger beds and building removable lightweight panels for walls. The walls will have windows and will store in the shell, and the roof will come down as normal for towing and storage. The interior will include a queen size bed that folds into a couch, a small two person dinette, and a cabinet for portable camp stove, coffee pot, etc. (no built-in water or propane). I am replacing the heavy rooftop AC unit with a Fantastic Fan. I will have basic AC/DC power inside and out. I have totally stripped the Jayco and have started my bottoms up re-build with the modifications described above. I will be posting my status with pics in the Pop Up section of this forum from time to time. I am also posting a more detailed journal of my project on the TNTTT Forum.
