Bedroom emergency window fell out while driving

Travelled from Thunder Bay, Onario, Canada to Duluth,MI, USA.
The emergency bedroom in bedroom was missing when when arrived in Duluth.
The window was closed when we left. It was 8 degrees celsius that night. I know that window was closed tight.
The metal piece at the top of the window, I assume the window was attached to was still there. Not bent, no signs of force.
Not exactly sure how fell out.
The blinds where down in the bedroom.
I suspect that may have something to do with the incident.

Was the latch still closed when you found it? I had one come loose on my last TT. I had it open the night before and did'nt get it fully latched. Another driver came up beside me and kept motioning to the TT. I stopped and found the window partially out, had the other driver not got my attention I would have been missing a window.

This must happen more than we think. A few years back I was starting to pass a TT on the hwy. When there side window flew out and exploded on the hood of my car. I immediately pulled over thinking they would to but I guess they had no idea what had happened until they got wherever they where going.

Mine came open about 10 miles from home last trip. I know I locked it. Since this lock is vastly different I suspect when I locked it last time I did not make sure the lock was in the correct position. I noticed while trying to jar the lock loose if it rests at all on the locking mechanism sides the handle tended to raise up. I make sure the handle is centered in the lock every time now. Owned mine for 8 years now and my log shows over 1000 nights camping. The window is opened often. Never had this issue before.

We had ours pop open pulling out of Yellowstone two years ago. Saw it flapping in the breeze on a two lane highway. After some semis passed me going the other way.

I was sure it was closed and locked.

It is those darn U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents.
The Canadian guys are nice, but the U.S. fellas are always looking for contraband. They probably removed the window and snuck in to take a peek inside the trailer to see what you might be smuggling across the border. Contraband liquor, Bulgarian prostitutes, cheaper pharmaceutical prescriptions, etc. When they found out you were clean, they probably just kept the window out of spite.

I have a similar problem with my 26BH. It has two emergency windows and the plastic latch mechanism on both windows has broken several times. I've tried using epoxy to repair them but the inevitably break again. Now the arms are held to the frame with duct tape to keep the windows shut while driving.

I have been trying to find replacement latches that are made of steel or aluminum, but can only find plastic replacements. Does anyone know if metal latches are available, or have you come up with a reliable DIY fix? TIA.

Hmmm... that got me thinking. I have a habit of bookmarking totally random neat stuff that I find on the Internet. There might be a way to make your own:

Learn How To Melt Soda Cans Into A Sword [Video]

Someone who's handy and with some time to kill might be able to use this method to make some aluminum replacement latches.
