Big Hoss and Little Jay

Our new Jayco X213 (Little Jay) arrived on New Year's Eve. We have been waiting since October, and had to order the trailer sight unseen since none of the dealers in the south had one in stock.

We've probably already loaded it with too much stuff but Big Hoss, our Ford F-450, doesn't care at all. We'll be setting it up at my wife's folks for a few days while we check everything out and write up all the checklists we'll have to follow for setting things up.

We ordered Little Jay fully loaded, and had the dealer add power stabilization jacks, JT-Strong Arms, a larger door handle, and a second battery. We are really looking forward to camping season!

Many thanks to all those in the forum who post hints and tips, we've been reading extensively here to get a head start on all we have to learn.

Best Regards,

Mitch & Tresa

Congratulations! Must have been a little unnerving to special order a unit you'd never seen an example of. Camping at the in-laws should be a good shake-down for it. Let us know how it goes and if it meets your expectations.

Happy Camping!

No such thing as too much truck!

Let us know how you like your trailer.

Well, after a few weeks of going over and a 3 day weekend practice camp out, we have put Little Jay into storage for the rest of winter -- well no not really, because we are going to take it out next weekend, adding some hooks in the bed area for lights, my CPAP mask, and a magnet board for my wife's work area in the front.

So far so good, the only thing needing work is a damaged headboard that we spotted on walkthrough -- that had to be ordered -- and some bolts used as stops on the electric jacks to protect the JT strong-arms are too long and catch on the jack braces.

Oh yeah - the F450 outweighs the trailer by nearly 2x. It's way way overkill for an X213. We got it to handle later upgrades.

Our last TT, a Jayco 197 had a warning sticker on the A-Frame saying not to tow the TT with anything larger than a 1 ton truck. I could never figure out why.
