First Trailer
Hello all! My wife, two kids, and I just picked up our first travel trailer! First weekend went well, though I have a lengthy to do/buy list made already. I am very appreciative of all the good information I have found and I'm sure there is more to come.

Congratulations on your first travel trailer.
It seems will have those buy/do lists. Keep us posted on how you do with yours.

Nice trailer-- have you ever camped in one before? I always tell people to make sure they spend some time in their new trailers so they can get to know it and then they see what sort of things they'll need, or spot things that need fixing.

When I was a kid I hunted with some friends who had one though I didn't do much of the work so I don't have a lot of base knowledge. We have both camped plenty so that part is not new just the camper part is.
My wife and I picked it up without the kids and camped 15 minutes from the dealer and explored how everything works. A couple of short trips to learn and then 5000 miles this summer to see family around the midwest.

This website is invaluable for learning tips, tricks and getting advice on your new trailer. But, it cannot replace experience towing it and camping in it. When I got my new 27DSRL over a year ago now, I had never towed anything so big. I was more freaked out about backing it into my driveway than anything else. I wouldn't say it's "old hat" now, but it does get easier with repetition.
