Hello.

Hello, all. How are you?

My name is Stephen and I am from central New York. At age 44 and have only camped with a tent, I finally bought my first travel trailer. A 2011 Jayco Jay Flight 25 BHS. I love it! But, I am a little intimidated at all the knowledge that is needed...not to mention backing it up in tight spaces (Ok, that's a lie...it doesn't even have to be a tight space to intimidate me). I just got back from from my first trip. Truck and trailer made it home fine, even if I did manage to pin a fire pit ring under my truck's front axle trying to get enough space to pull out. :Embarrass: After 15 minutes of digging out the ring and losing my man card (Ok, that's another lie...I never had such a card), I tucked my tail between my legs and asked for help from a kind and supportive fellow TT owner. Ever feel like every eye in the park is watching you?

Anyways, I really enjoy the new TT and will equally enjoy learning from all of you.

Thank you and take care.

Stephen

Well that's one for the "most boneheaded moments" thread that was started in the " campfire chat " section Stephen. It's my favorite in this forum and it hasn't been very active lately. Check it out we've all had those moments and welcome to the forum.

Love your post and your sense of humor! Having a sense of humor is the first thing you have to learn! Everything else comes easier with time :-)

Welcome to the JOF Stephen! Intimidated newbies with humble humor and 'eager to help' fellow camper make a good mix! Most of fellow rv'ers have 'been there, dun that' and more than willing to lend a hand/advice/experience. And... talk about every eye in the park watching you... I've seen folks actually pop open a beer and settle into their lawn chairs to watch even the seasoned rv'er who attempts to back into a site without using a walkie-talkie (passenger guiding the driver into a 'back in' site). The entertainment that can be had by watching them yell at each other LOL

Congrats on the new tt

Stephen welcome to JOF congrats on the trailer from a fellow NYer. You might want to look into the NYS Camping group, give you some ideas where to go or share your thoughts with the other members. Good luck hope to see you there.

Truth be told when I watched the movie RV, staring Robin Williams, I thought it was a documentary about me....lol. I once backed my trailer over a small fire ring when setting up and it had hot coals in it. Melted my sealed underbelly. It was a bummer but decades layer these all add up to great memories told around the campfire. Enjoy your outings.
