Yeah, that was my original plan to upgrade the Acadia with the towing package but went to the dealer and asked about it and they showed me a recent release from GM stating that if the Acadia was not built from the factory with the towing package you can't increase the towing capacity. You can only just add a hitch. So her vehicle is stuck with the 2,000 lb towing capacity.

Scanning the internet now for used 197 or 228 for sale. These are both under 4,000 lbs.

I didn't like pulling it with my Saturn Outlook, wind drag was the biggest killer on my X19H. Stuck in 4th gear at 3200rpm at 60 mph. Behind trucks I was able to go to 5th gear, but any side wind or head wind it struggled. I bought a F150 ecoboost and it's waaaaaay better now. Short distance the Outlook was fine, but if you like to travel I'd get a truck. 3 kids shouldn't be an issue with the F150 supercap. Tons of room.
