Hello from AZ

Hello to all,
My wife and I , along with are three kids (8,5,5) are really excited about embarking on our Jayco experience. We have our purchase choice narrowed down to the 26BH and the 28BHS/29BHS. Looking around the forum, I see there is a lot of experience in here that we can definitely learn from. Oh, our TV is a 2005 Chevy 1500 with a 5.3 and 3.73 gearing. Any input from you all about choosing between the models we like would be greatly appreciated.
Jay

Welcome to the forum. If you look at my signature you`ll see I have basically the same truck and a 28 BHS and I also have 3 camping aged kids! I also looked at the 26 BH and while we liked the floorplan we opted to go with the next size up 28BHS with the small slide. It opens up the living area and has more kitchen counter space. Nice floorplan for a family and not super huge or heavy. Any questions just ask.

Lee,
Thanks. I am curious. What kind of gas mileage are you getting? How does your TT tow?

I get around 10 mpg, have seen 11. Trailer tows well, i have not experienced any sway with the Dual Cam. The biggest issue with half tons is the tongue weight of the trailer combined with any weight in the truck. So I load the front compartment with light stuff and watch my weight, although I have towed with a full load of water before (59 gallons) and been alright but did not go far. My truck is rated to tow 8100 lbs and my TT weighs 5568 lbs empty, can go up to 7500 loaded but I never intend to approach that figure. Overall I would have to say the truck is adequate to tow this trailer, you just won`t win any races. I have negotiated some hills and headwinds so far but never any mountains yet so I don`t know how that would be. -Lee
