Hello From Kansas
After years, and more years of tent camping I've decided to move over to a travel trailer. Not being one to jump into the water to see how deep it is, I've spent the last couple of months looking, reading and researching RV's and have finally decided on a Jayco TT. So here I am.
As for me, sometime in the next few months I'll be throwing in the retirement towel and leaving the daily grind behind. I enjoy good coffee and good conversations, so if you see the light on, stop on by. But I'm somewhat of a recluse so you may have to look a bit to find me. :-)
I've already learned a lot by reading through the various threads and hopefully will be able to dodge a lot of the pitfalls of owning a TT.

Hi Healthi, and thanks for the welcome. Right now I'm looking at the Feather Ultra Lite 221. I wanted to go with the Jay Flight 19RD, but the weight would have been too close to the capabilities of my Dakota. I like the floor plan of the 221 and it'll give me 1,000+ pounds of a safety margin for my TV, so that's where my sights are. - Fred

Hey Fred, bought a Jayco TT at 61. Found this forum, thought TT stood for Tin Tent, learned lots from friendly folks. Enjoy the journey.
I love coffee. You get up our way, the light will be on.

Thanks for the welcomes and the coffee invites.
I'm starting to get all of the abbreviations figured out so the messages are easier to read. One term still has me a little puzzled though. Boondocking? Is that back in the woods with the birds and the trees, or is that camping in a parking lot? I've seen it used both ways on different camping forums and haven't quite gotten a grasp on that one.

haha :hihi: It can be both.... but it basically means not being hooked up to any services, so you gotta learn to conserve your electrical/water resources. I much prefer the woods, birds, trees version myself.

Woltra, thanks for unraveling that mystery for me.
After years of camping in a tent I don't believe conserving electricity & water should be a problem. My biggest consumer of electricity was my e-reader, and that lasted for days without the need of a recharge. And once I retire I can turn in the cellphone I've been tethered to, so no worries there.
