Hello from Nashville TN - Homebase

We're full-timers and have been until early January of this year, Class A people. We moved into this new 5th Wheel Jayco in January and have been very pleased by the size but very disappointed by the quality. Electric power reel broke, roof antenna inop, front awning inop, leveling system works 1/2 the time, main living area a/c cannot keep up with the heat (despited Jayco all-weather claims to contrary) to name a few issues.

Most disappointing was (complete lack of) service after the sale from the local dealer (Dunlap RV, Lebanon TN)
While we traveled from Jan to April along the southern coast, we limped back into Nashville where we've been ever since mainly grounded due to total knee replacement surgery and subsequent infection. We hope to find a reputable dealer to fix these issues before we hit the road again in July, but wonder would it be better to attempt a factory visit and fix (if that's even possible)?

Have you talked with Jayco customer service or another dealer? From what you have listed, these are not major problems that should be fixable by any dealer that will tackle it. The purchasing dealer not wanting on work on it sounds suspicious. Is that the whole story or are there some extenuating circumstances as to why they decline to tackle a customers problem?

The fridge hitting the cabinet is definitely a design problem that someone missed. The rest of them should be regular business as usual fixes, IMO.

Being in the unit full time may create some challenges and being sidelined with a recovering knee problem , is frustrating to say the least.

Please keep us posted on how this is resolved.

Thanks

I will keep you posted. And yes I have been in contact with Jayco and they have been very helpful . In fact the reason I'm so frustrated at this dealer is Jayco's checking on the orders placed to repair my coach as the dealer claimed to have done, only to find that they've not placed the orders they've claimed to have placed. I probably would not have returned to this dealer if Jayco had not asked me to originally.

Talking Improvements

As an update, we went back to the selling dealer and after a come-to-Jesus meeting and the parts and service manager apologizing profusely we came to an agreement on when they will work on the repairs and the need to have all the parts on-hand before we pull into the dealer. Our appointment is July 5th — will let you know how it goes.

Update part 2

Finally got the dealer to fix most of the issues but they could not seem to fix the issue with the passenger side slide inability to move in one swift movement. It trips and auto-reset breaker at least twice. The replaced breakers, switches, the motor, etc., so we've been referred to the manufacturer. Jayco called me and we will be through Indiana in September so hopefully we can make it with this slide until then. The A/C they could not remedy either and Jayco said it would try and address that as well.
